well after 5 years of owning dvc, I guess the odds came up that we would get a clunker of a room, and we did. Unfortunately we had lots of guests with us, so it was a big disappointment. Second floor, they are doing rehab, and the dust in the hallways aggravated 2 people in my parties allergies, one very badly. I myself could feel my throat burn at times after I walked by. We were honored with a second floor substandard view of the building they just demolished, a huge ugly tent and debris were directly out our balcony. It was awful. And then it seemed like nothing worked, doors wouldn't close properly, toilet overflowed 2x, then they never came back to clean up the flood after the 2nd time, I had to keep calling. I did try to get our room changed immediately after arriving but if anything,we would have had to switch resorts, and we had such an unbelievable amount of stuff with the 2 babies, plus we were looking in convenience of location. If I had known about peoples allergies being affected starting later that day, I might have considered changing. Once we were there, I never went to any parks cause I didn't want to be walking my 4 month old son down the halls they were rehabbing, they were redoing the ceilings, sanding and drywalling or whatever, all the ceilings were torn and the floors covered with plastic. Anyway, it was disappointing when we had such a large group with us, any standard view I have ever had has been more than acceptable in the past, but this was awful. My dh, says we've had such good luck in the past, this was inevitable. Otherwise we had a good trip, parks were unbelievably crowdwd, according to my family.

I hope you complained to the manager about having to call housekeeping several times after the 2nd toilet overflow! That's unacceptable! And I concur with your displeasure over the conditions in the hallways. I would hope that they could plan their rehabs in such a way that people wouldn't have to travel through hallways that were in the state you describe, but apparently that's not the case. I'm so sorry your trip was so disappointing, especially when you had guests!

We had this same scenario in August. Sheetrocking, plastic on the floors etc.. The worst was when they accidently cut the phone line to our room which resulted in NO wake up call on the day of our Segway tour. Luckily I woke up in just enough time to hightail it to Epcot(looking VERY pretty I must say with NO shower! )
I was really dissappointed in BWV this last trip.

I would contact the member satisfaction manager, that is totally unacceptable. What were your room numbers? I have a boardwalk view reserved for Dec 4 - 10, I put in a request for top floor to be away from where they are reconstructing the models. They said in the Vacation Magic or The Member Clubhouse that they would not be using the rooms directly above the reconstruction work, doesn't sound like they followed through on that.

Re toilets: Whenever our toilets overflow it's because someone (usually children of guests, although sometimes ours) put something down them. That's not to excuse the delay in getting help.

Re baby: You mean you actually stayed in the room the whole time so your baby wouldn't have to go down the hall? Or am I misunderstanding? Unless your baby has severe asthma or other respiratory condition, (s)he would have been OK to go down the hall.

Yikes! We leave tomorrow for BWV - 1 br standard view. Can you post what room number you had or more about the room location so I can try to avoid it when we check-in tomorrow (Sun. 11/28)? DH has very bad allergies - so much so that we would probably accept the change of resorts before a room with airborne dust. So sorry for your experience...!!!!!

Wow, sorry to hear that. Makes me glad I am staying at BCV next week (we usually stay at BWV). I would definately complain.

So sorry to hear about the condition of your rooms and the hallways. I know that can sometime put a damper on a trip. I hope you have better luck next time. :flower:

Sorry you had a bad experience. We have not stayed at BWV yet, but want to try all the resorts in time. I agree with One More Try, did you stay in the room to avoid the hall? I would have just covered the baby with a little blanket and run through the mess! Maybe you go to WDW all the time since you live so close though. We do not have allergies or asthma, but we have had a lot of work done on our home and that drywall dust is AWFUL!!

We're scheduled to be staying at BWV in three weeks. My DS, who is 4, has major respiratory concerns and must use a nebulizer for his breathing meds. I wonder if we should call MS and request not to be on the 2nd floor where all of this is going on. Anyone else been there lately and think it's bad enough to try and avoid. I don't mind the inconvenience of work being done around me, but would hate to aggrevate DS breathing difficulties.

If I was you, I would call BWV and ask for a manager. Ask where they expect to be working in 3 weeks. It's possible by then they could have moved on to another area.

Make the call. You don't want to end up in an ER.

Not true! I would be willing to bet this is the same toilet that overflowed twice when we were there in Oct. We put no foreign objects down the toilet! I think we were in rooms 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2007, 2009. The standard views were overlooking the building being torn down. I TOTALLY agree with the OP. I am going to BWV in a few days and will NOT accept any of these rooms until the construction is over. We did our part to be flexible in Oct!

Just returned from BWV and was also disappointed with condition of room.
Staying in a Grand Villa - top of the line, right? When we got into the room, the TV in the living room did not work at all (required 2 maintenance calls and still wasnt right), the phone in the living room was dead, the A/C unit by the master bedroom did not work, there were at least 6 light fixtures with burned out bulbs and only 2 burners were operational on the range. Also the Luna Park pool area was not as clean as we would expect, there were a lot of dried leaves and some trash in the seating area - and an ashtray full of cigarette butts was on the ground the entire length of our stay - was never cleaned up.
Is this reflecting a general lowering of maintenance standards? Sure seems that way. At least we were not on a floor being renovated - its awful that anyone would have to endure that mess while on vacation. I've sent email to member services regarding my experience but have not received any response.

it is true that absolutely no objects were placed in the toilet, other than what it is intended for!

Wow, I would not be happy either. I am sorry to hear that BWV is having so many problems.

Wow! Sorry you had all those problems.

We just got back this afternoon - we were at BWV (Boardwalk view room) from 11/28 through today. Had none of the problems or issues you describe. Our room was clean and in good condition. We swam every day except for Friday and today (early flight home) and thought the pool area very clean and nice. Saw the tent, but when we walked by mid-week, they appeared to be done with the demolition. No noise, no dust, no nothing in the way of construction near us. Had no idea anything like you descrtibe was going on in the adjacent wing.

Again, so sorry you had a less than magical experience. Hope next time is much, much better.

Carol, can't wait to hear about your trip! Where along the BW front was your villa located? Wasn't the view awesome? :)

We were on the 4th floor in a 2 bedroom. The view was indeed very nice - our room actually shook each night during the Holiday Finale of IllumiNations. That was truly awesome! Can't imagine how we'll ever be inmpressed with fireworks again after that!

Our room was 4011/4013. It was in the red section to the left of the Crest 'o the Wave section. Our room was the rightmost room in the red section(if you were facing the resort with Crescent Lake behind you) and overlooked some of the midway games.

As nice as the view was, I find I prefer the standard view rooms facing the entrance. Now I understand why some people think the halls are so long, LOL. IMHO, the standard view rooms are quieter and in a better location for getting in and out (assuming you can use the stairways). That doesn't mean the BW view rooms were noisy or that I didn't like the location - I just think the standard view rooms are a tremendous bargain! I'm glad to have tried the BW view rooms for myself, though and am very glad they are a guaranteed category - might want to stay in one again sometime.

Best wishes -
