We signed up for a disney visa as they were promoting a $200.00 GC. Well for some reason we never received that GC. They gave us some line and gave us 200 reward points. What is this? Is it different from the GC.

We actually were going to cancel our Disney visa card as DH is a little pissed. But something tells me that we can't now that we have these 200 points.

So my question is, which is better the GC or the reward points or are they one in the same?

The reward points are turned into a gift card when you redeem them so all you have to do is ask for the transfer to occur and you will get the card. No big deal.

I assume you know they have to be used for Disney purchases.

THANKS!!!

I see that we were making a bigger deal than what needed to be :rotfl:

And yes I did know that it needed to be spent on disney items. We plan on using it at the parks.

However I didn't know that I could transfer them to a GC. Can I do that at the Disney store or do we have to wait until we get down to Disney?

I always do it online at the Chase site. It's very easy that way. They will mail you the card. You can then keep that card until the expiration date and continue to transfer the reward points to it.

You do it online via the Chase website. Order your GC and download your points to the card. Very easy to do.

Don't you first order the Rewards Card, put the points onto it, and that's what you use? I didn't think you could directly order a Disney GiftCard from the Chase site.

Or you can just go somewhere in the front of Magic Kingdom to get a card. And then you call chase. They are then on the GC no problems.

We did this on our Make a Wish trip in December.

Go to guest relations at the front of the park, it's SUPER easy. That's what I did last Oct. Then I didn't have to worry about how far in advance to call for the card. Got the card there, called Chase, had the points transfered to the card & I was good to go. It took less than 15 mins.

A point is worth a dollar. As you use your card the points will build. You can ask for them near when you are ready to go or just wait until you get there per PP's advice.

You can also put your points on a card in DTD. That's what I typically do on my day of arrivial.

Go to the Chase website. Click on the link to rewards. Order a card - you'll have to transfer a minimum number of points over when you order the card. I usually transfer the minimum, and then wait until the last statement prior to my vacation to transfer all remaining points. Super easy to do. I think I got the card within a week. You use the card just like a gift card. No big deal.

And the minimum should be $10
The minimum is $20 for card holders who are cashing out the first time. It's $10 after that.

You get a rewards card, not a gift card. There is a difference. The rewards card will expire, so be careful about the date on it and make sure that you only put whatever points on it that you know you will spend before the expiration.

You can call the number on the back of your CC to order the rewards card. Or you can place an order online thru your account. Or you can get the card with no rewards on it at Guest Services at the parks and Downtown Disney. If you choose that option, you will have to phone Chase to have your rewards added to the card.

You can purchase gift cards online with the rewards card. I've done it many times. That way you can give multiple family members a gift card to spend as they please instead having just the one rewards card. GCs don't expire like the rewards cards, so no need to keep an eye on the expiration date.

That's why I thought it was 10, since I already have my card

That is good to know. We only got the card for the 200.00 GC. We won't be using to the card again to rack up points. DH dislikes cc so we are done using our disney rewards cc :(

Also GREAT idea about purchasing GC online with the rewards to give to other family members!

We did that offer also, and put the points on our Disney Rewards Card. (you order that, as others have said) Don't load them to the rewards card until you're ready to use them because they'll expire in a year on that card..... :goodvibes

we loaded ours but then turned around and bought Disney Gift cards, which have no expiration date. I didn't want to risk losing the points, even though they give you a ton of time to use them.... but better safe than sorry. :thumbsup2

If you use this option, you can also add more money to your gift card by calling the number on the gift card. It's VERY easy.....
