Do you ever get a little worried when your DH/DW/SO is late?

I think this is normal. DH would flip if I were 15 minutes late. He was off work tonight at 9pm. I expected him home around 9:30ish. Well, it gets to be 10:30, no DH. I had called his cell phone about three times, no answer.

So, I call his work, just for the heck of it. He works in a store in the mall, which closes at nine, so I assume no one will answer. However, his manager answers. I ask to speak to DH, and he gives the phone to him.

Meanwhile, I hear all kinds of noise in the background, like he and all his coworkers (and then some) are there, having some kind of party or what not. He says they are having a meeting, and he will call me back later.

I told him not to bother. As he was very inconsiderate.

1. If you are going to be, now, over an hour late getting home from work, due to a meeting, isn't it appropriate, considerate, and thoughtful to tell your wife? You know, call so maybe I don't worry?

2. If its not an actual meeting (and I doubt it was, with all that noise) is there something wrong with saying, "I'm going to hang out with the guys for awhile?"

I'm so mad at him right now! I deserve a phone call!

You're right you deserve a call. So that you won't worry. Why make somebody (especially your spouse) worry needlessly?

Yes, you deserved a phone call. I call my SO if I'm going to be 10 minutes late, but he never calls me if he's 10 minutes or 5 hours late.:(

You deserved a call.

GRRRRRR  My DH does this often to me.

Very inconsiderate!!

My DH used to do this a long time ago. I have called the police department before.

I did it to him a few times to make a point and he finally stopped. It is just common courtesy.

Want me to punch him out??? :faint:

I suppose I'm just very blessed. My DH will call or email me if something comes up. He works with our church dad a lot in landscaping so he does that first thing in the morning. Then he goes to Radio Shack and works there til close, and then goes back to mom and dad's house to work on stuff for the CD business! So he gets tired and will fall asleep there. He will do his best to call, but in case he thinks he will forget, he calls me loooooooooooooong before to remind me where he'll be. :teeth:

ex-notsoDH used to do that EVERY DAY - grrrr  Of course it is one of the reasons why he is now labeled ex ;)

I'm a worry wart and would be very upset if DH was going to be late and didn't call. I love cell phones for that reason.

Ok maybe he should have called but cut him some slack, he is working hard.

Is he a good guy? Does he treat you well?
Maybe he was looking for some down time.

I would be annoyed. I'm a big worrier! I'm doing better, since DH flies and may be diverted/stuck in a briefing/etc. and can't call. But I still worry.

Reading your post I thought I was reading something I would have written about my off&on SO. He wanted to go grocery shopping Wed night after work so I hurry home from class - no spending time with friends chatting and an hour later still no SO. Doesn't pick up his cell so I leave a message. He finally calls at 1:30 when he is on his way home and has no clue why I was upset with him. Just another reason the off part may win out over the on part.
