Hi, This is my very first post!! I've been lurking around for quite a while and decided it's time to jump in. There is so much helpful information on this board and I'm so thankful to have found it. We are going on our first vacation since our honeymoon in 1997 :rolleyes1 so I think it's about time. Our DD Emma will be almost 5 by the time we go to Disney and she can't wait :bride: (she is helping me pick smilies). We will be going the first week in December and I'll turn 40 during the trip so it will be extra magical. We are staying at POP and will be doing the deluxe dining plan :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: So after spending the majority of the a.m. trying to figure out my avatar and signature, I think I finally got it.

I also live in Va and will be going for the first time in August :dance3: Where at in Va are you I'm in Prince George

Looks like you're pretty close to me (somewhat anyway) - I'm Newport News. We're going on our 2nd trip in November for Thanksgiving... it will be our first ever vacation during a holiday and I'm a bit nervous over crowds since we went in mid-October last time and the crowds, lines, and weather were awesome! Anyway, welcome to the boards... this is a great place to be and nearly everyone is extremely helpful and nice:)

:welcome:

You'll have a fantastic time -- DH turned 40 on one of our trips (in fact, the picture below is from that trip) and it was so much fun!

welcome to the DIS.. been on here for over a year myself.. planning our 2nd trip on property for Free dining in August. From Virginia also (Chesapeake).. Everyone from Virginia, do you usually drive or fly when you go to the world? So far we have driven, but we're toying with the idea of flying this time

Hey neighbor! We were just over your way yesterday... had to get a Dis store fix:thumbsup2 We drove last time from WV and are driving this time as well. We played with the idea of taking the train and also with flying but figured we'd be better off with our own car:) Nobody but us can lose our luggage this way:cool1:

We're going for Thanksgiving, so free dining is out unfortunately...

Definitely flying - I live right by Washington DC and don't even have a car to save money!

I watch the flights and got $133 non-stop round trip for next month's trip :cool1:

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, now I just need to venture out to the other areas and post.

yes we practically live at that store.. at least DW adn DD anyway. DW is already getting little trinkets on sale from there for the trip (shirts, etc.) and we just confirmed our plans like TODAY. LOL we're not excited or anything can you tell??

I looked into the train (really expensive really taking the autotrain), Southwest out of Norfolk isn't too bad, but looks like driving maybe cheaper than flying with 4 of us.. (not by much though)...

Same here, with 4 of us we did the math... autotrain was looking good for a while but we decided we'd rather drive ourselves and make better time, get some rest, and get the vacation started... not to mention it leaves more money for the actual vacation :rotfl: Our first trip was VERY budget, we only did MK and MGM... this trip will be very different. We also stayed at a resort off site and we're staying at (hopefully) Shades of Green this time round - we're actually calling tonight to attempt to make reservations...:rolleyes1

On the subject of Dis stores, we went to Lynnhaven over Spring Break and then the Chesapeake one yesterday... the Chesapeake one is much nicer IMHO... a much larger selection I thought:) I could get in a lot of trouble if we lived closer... but then again, it only took us about 20 minutes:woohoo:

coool.....welcome!

i hope you enjoy it here at the dis, trust me, with all this information (and so many of us) you won't want to leave

Were gonna drive down.Looked into flying but mom won't fly .We also looked at the train but dad don't like train's.So we either have to drive two vehicles and pull a trailer(the way my mom and wife pack) or rent a 15 passenger van.Price on that for 10 day rental is over $1000.00 :scared: .Oh by the way it's 12 of us going( Grand Gathering)

Just waiting for the rain to fall. Ran home from Church, quickly put down some grass seed( overseeding) and now I need the RAIN !!!!
HEY!!!We still need to have a face to face meet. After all we ARE in the same city... shoot we could be in the same subdivision.

We flew the last time, but we are driving this year for the first time

We have driven once from Ky and Once from Va. but that was BC ( Before Children) A.D.( After Delivery) it's been a fly. Have flown once from Roanoke ON Allegiant. Once from RIC( Richmond) Twice from GSO( Greensboro) and this time (June) from RDU ( Raleigh Durham) Visiting friends first.. staying the night.. then flying out.

If I lived in the Coastal Plain/ Tidewater area I would ALWAYS fly.. I have seen KILLER rates out there.
