I thought some of you may be interested. These are some more pictures of the Vero Disney area. None of the pics. are from Vero Disney itself, and most of them are from the Sea Oaks development (just south of Disney Vero), but still sad to see the destruction in the area. Especially the erosion on the ocean side.

Here is the link:

Here's a part I'm struggling with. Doesn't it look like the beach is now much wider? It looks like the dunes have been eroded and leveled, but it seems like low tide shows a much wider beach. I know wwe won't be able to really tell from pictures, it'll take visiting to see the difference.

Thanks for sharing these pictures. Do you have a connection to Sea Oaks? I read a rumor that the oceanside owners may get an assessment as high as $10,000. Very sad to see such damage.

Pam,

My SIL has a condo at Sea Oaks. It is on the river side. They have one wall on their building that will need to come down as it sustained 120 mph winds for a couple of hours (and the gusts were stronger). This caused the entire wall to buckle inward.

This was a vacation home for them and they would rent it out when not using it. So I consider them lucky as they still have their home here in NJ. Some of those poor people lost everything.

We were their in April, such a beautiful place.

Have you ever been there?

Yuck..I would not like to take a dip in that pool...:crazy2:

At least they have a pool. There was a picture of one condo where the new oceanfront pool had almost all the land swept away from around it. It was just sort of hanging from a dune.

JCW, I haven't been in to see Sea Oaks but I recognize the name and the signage when visiting Vero. From Jupiter to Vero is my favorite part of Florida and my first choice if I were to move. It's a shame what happened this year. I hope things work out for your SIL -- I'm sorry she's got to deal with this long-distance but it's good this was her "second home".

Really, why is that? Do you consider it better than the west coast? Thanks for sharing.
