Vero/Hilton Head. Which airports???

Just wanted to know where most of you fly into when going to either of the two resorts. Thanks for the help!!!

Haven't been to HH, but going to VB followed by BCV in October, flying into MCO (Orlando).

How far is the drive from VB to Disney?

We are close enough to HH to drive, but those who I have seen posting about flying there have done so mostly into Savannah. It's then only about a 45 minute drive to the resort.

For HHI, Savannah is the most likely. We're trying Charleston this year, it's about 1 1/2-2 hours away and much cheaper for us this time. Some people use Jacksonville occasionally, about 3 hours away.

If you connect, flying into Melbourne (MLB) gets you the closest to Vero.

Disney1474-Where are you departing from? My parents live in Vero and just saw that USA3000 offers direct flights now from BWI(Baltimore) to Melbourne which is the closest big airport to Vero. It's about a 30 minute drive. Since my huband has his private pilot's license he flies us directly to Hilton Head. I know that a small US Air or some other airline does have service into Hilton Head. Enjoy both resorts--we love both

How far is the drive from VB to Disney?

VB to Disney is about an 1:45 - 2:00 Hour drive and VB to MCO 1:15 -1:30 min drive.

We got a fantastic deal on a direct flight from Boston to Myrtle Beach ($126.00 pp on Spirit !), so that's where we're flying. I think the drive to HH is about 4 hours, but we're planning to spend two nights in Charleston on our way, so it won't seem nearly as long.

For VB, there are three options...

1) Orlando... We have always done this... We know the airport.. There are a ton of choices for rental cars... And if we decide to go to WDW, we are close to the aiport for the trip back....

2) Melbourne... Closest airport at 30 mins away... Smaller... For us, it's a bit more expensive, so we don't use it.. We'd rather save the $$$ and fly in from MCO... Also, though there are rental car agencies near the aiport, I am not sure if they are as large as the ones at MCO...

3) West Palm Beach... Never have flown into here, but have thought about it... It's about the same distance to VB as MCO...


For HHI, the main airport is Savannah... Drive time is about 45 min to 1 hour..

Does anyone else feel that flying to Orlando and NOT going to WDW just doesn't seem right? Maybe that's because we've never been to Vero Beach, but I'd try for a different airport, just to have a "Vero Beach" airport. Orlando is my WDW airport.

For HHI, we fly into Atlanta and drive 4-5 (sorry, I forget exactly how long, but I do know we are on I95 for a very short time ) hours for the lowest airfare.

I hear you.... When doing those VB solo trips it's awfully tough walking by the Disney Store in the airport and realizing that you won't be going...

One thing we've done though is to take a day trip to WDW while at VB... This is a tad bit goofy since it's four hours round trip, but it lets us at least to go the MK for a day and get a taste of WDW while still allowing us to lounge at VB...
