We are going to vero beach and WDW - animal kingdom lodge for a week (8days). What is the best way to get to Vero beach? We have only ever hired limos before (Your ride - but I read somewhere that rabbit left? Is it still good?). Would it be better to rent a car? If so can you recommend someone? Thanks!

We are planning on this for summer '05. First WDW for 4 nights and then on to VB. My dh will be flying in for the VB trip, so....dd and I fly into MCO, limo to WDW. Dh flies into MCO later and rents a car (either ar MCO or WDW) We drive to VB, about 2 hrs. away. Then return car whichever airport we fly out of. Either MCO, Melbourne, or W Palm Beach. Most likely WPB. Check out Mousesavers for hints on car renting.

Vero Beach is >110 miles from WDW (farther from AKL), so I would strongly recommend you rent a car and drive it, even if that means going to MCO to pick up the car. It is a nice easy drive from MCO (or WDW) to VB tho, all very nice highway. The resort recommends the Bee Line to 95 South to the Sebastian exit (VB resort is not actually in Vero Beach, but north a few miles in a town called Wabasso (village of Orchid, I believe) nearest to Sebastian.

We LOVED being at VB (also love AKL). You should have a wonderful time.

Can't you rent a car at the Dolphin? That's what I was told. Much easier than going to MCO. Or even the Car Care place over by MK?? Speaking of VB, any idea how long it takes to drive to W. Palm Beach airport??

I have that information for you, Goofy4Tink! We flew into PBI in January for our VB trip. The drive took about an hour and 20 mins, but would have been shorter if we had connected to the turnpike correctly (or just gone 95 as it was a low-traffic time).

IMO tho, MCO is way easier than PBI. PBI is fairly small and lots of slow ppl in front of you. Car rental system is not nearly as efficient as we have had at MCO either (tho they were wonderfully accomodating, and the staff were great). Everything at MCO seems to work like clockwork in my experience, so we will be flying to MCO whe going to VB from now on. I hope this helps.

Thanks pumpkinboy. My dad uses PBI a lot, but he goes to Pompano Beach. Looks like maybe MCO is the better choice, then return the car to where we got it. Thanks for the info/insights.

I also agree MCO would be the best airport. You will get the largest selection of flights, rental cars, etc.

We always rent a car for our VB trips from National at MCO.

Bee Line to I-95 South to S/R#512 exit then right to US1 South to left onto S/R#510 over the intracoastal waterway and a right at the lights at A1A and the first left and you are there!

About 1 3/4 hours or so

Once on S/R#512 you can turn right at S/R#510 and skip part of the town - there are a lot of schools on this part of 510 so be forewarned depending on time of day

thanks

Definately your best bet is to rent and drive. It is a nice scenic drive. There is a real direct route, but if you have time, take the scenic drive along the coast, it is really pretty.

Other than the cost factor of driving vs. a limo to Vero, many people find once they get to the resort, they like to leave for a meal offsite or two. We never do, we just plant our butts on the beach and cook in our villas, lol.

You can find alot of info on VB on the DVC board here. I am a Disney Vacation Club Owner at Vero Beach.

Have fun!
