Hello all! We are looking to plan a trip to VB and are debating VB for 7 nights OR WDW for 4 nights and VB for 4 nights... any thoughts?

Our kids will be 6 and almost 3 at the time of the trip and we took them to WDW in November 2007 and February 2009 and we all had a blast. Our main concerns are: 1) Feeling "cheated" with the shorter WDW stay (other trips were for a week) 2) Having enough for our nearly 3 year-old to "do" (if we go for the 7 nights other than beach and pool) at VB since most activities are for the 4+ crowd and my son will most likely do some, but she will be left out

Thanks! :)

Personally you're talking about two different types of vacations in my opinion. I would base my decision on what my family needs are at the time, is it more downtime and a more family/quiet vacation, due to job stress/family stress, then stick to Vero Beach. If that wasn't the issue I would do 3 days at Vero Beach and then finish off with 4 days at WDW, 4 days at the parks with small kids is plenty. My kids would feel let down by doing the beach after Disney, make it a big surprise and head to Disney after the beach People vacation differently, what works for me may not work for you.

We dearly love and look forward to our vacations, have a wonderful time no matter what you choose!

We love VB and were there for 6 nights with two 9 year olds this spring. On day 5 they had about run out of new things to do and we started looking for off-site things. If you are looking at 7 or 8 nights, I think you should consider splitting time. Maybe do a WDW trip without going to the parks. There's so much to do at WDW, you could have a blast. Go to AKL and see the animals. Spend the evening on the Boardwalk. Pool Hop. Go walking the trails at Ft Wilderness. etc.

The more I think about it, the more I think we should split the time... I mentioned going to a Disney Beach to my son and he immediately asked if we were also going to WDW!

My son thinks we should do the beach first, but my husband thinks we should "rest" at the beach after WDW. Guess I am the deciding vote!

Anyone know if/what VB does on birthdays? Mine will be over the trip, who has the better birthday options might be the deciding factor for the March 2010 trip!

We've done 2 full weeks at Vero Beach(Spring Break 08 & 09), with boys 12 & 8. They absolutely love it, between the swimming, boogie boarding and resort activities they don't get bored.

I think 4 at each would be a pretty nice split, I'd do WDW first then Vero for relaxation. I've done 6 nights at WDW and 2 nights at Vero and the two at Vero wasn't nearly enough.

We just got back from one night in Orlando and five in Vero and are thinking of missing WDW again in 2010 and just doing Vero.

We have done tow split stays at DVC in WDW and VB. Once we did VB first and the next time we did VB last. We preferred doing VB LAST because it was so relaxing and fun! You run around so much at Disney, it is so nice to slow down and let your feet rest at VB. We are going back in April and we will be at BWV first and finish with 3 days at VB. Can't wait! Oh and my kids are: 3,7 and 9.:goodvibes

We recently stayed nine days in WDW, then moved over to VB for four days. It was nice to be able to relax and wind down after going to WDW. Let's face it, trips to WDW can be exhausting, and it was nice to have some down time before going home.

Last year we had 3/3 split, and we didn't think either was long enough, so I'm planning a 4/4 split next year. We do VB first.

Typically, I recommend people do a split stay and make VB the second leg, but if your kids (and you) are way into WDW then make that second. Either way you will get to experience VB and will know from that point whether VB is in your future. VB is magical and especially for young kids.... The CMs are the best and the activities are bountiful...

Have a great time.. :beach:

Thank you, thank you for all the split advice! :worship:

After how we felt after the last trip (7 night) in WDW we needed time to relax, so WDW first and VB second. The 4/4 or a 3/4 would be good I think.

Now I just have one more kink in the decision... my DD gets very motion sick and we were thinking of driving back the day before the flight, staying at a WDW hotel, and flying home the next day and taking ME to MCO (will rent a car from the car care center in WDW).

Any thoughts on who has the shortest ride to MCO on ME? :confused3

Just decided on the shortest trip possible from hotel to MCO... the Hyatt AT the airport. Not Disney, but not stress... and there are Disney shops for any last-minute fixes! :wizard:

Ha! We have done it both ways... for the first 2 of our Aug trips we did VB first but once we went to WDW first and VB second my DW said NEVER AGAIN will we go to VB first.... I need to RELAX before going back home!
:lmao:
