Vero Beach restaurants

Hi,

My husband and I will be in Vero Beach the week of 2/13/05. Any suggestions for Valentines Day dinner or any other place that you would recommend. No kids this trip!

I'd also like to have a little more info on dining there too - we're staying there over night in the number of days listed below. Any info would be very appreciated, prefer to hear about the on property places first, but will have a car to go out as well.

For a special evening (with no kids) there is none better than Ellies! (I hope it is open again after the hurricanes) The service, food, and atmosphere are certainly the finest in VB. We have been there several times and have just loved it! Not too far of a drive - just over the bridge on Hwy 60 to the mainland, turn left and then left again on Royal Palm Drive (?) Verify my directions at the hotel first! I know you won't be disappointed!

I would say the Ocean Grill. The most unique restaurant I have ever been to. I am not sure if it open yet after the hurricanes though. Hope it is.

I replied to this thread last night but I don't see my response.

I'll check and seee if the Ocean Grill is open.

I always recommend the restaurants at the resort.

Capt. Hiram's is also good but their restaurant area has not been reopened since the hurricanes. I'm sure they will be open by Valentine's Day.

I second a recommendation for Ellie's - especially without kids. Ocean Grill is great too - less formal. Another good place is the Black Pearl - there are two and we ate at the one down A1A from the resort towards town. It was about as pricey as Ellie's - not quite as good - but still a great place....

Have a great time - we won't be getting back any time soon....

Ellie's, Ellie's, Ellie's. We ate here on our first trip to Vero without the kids and it was wonderful. Unfortunately we've gone in the summer the last few trips and Ellie's isn't open then. Must plan another fall or spring trip.

Thought of another one! (Although ELLIE'S is still the best.) This one is the "Hardwood Grill." It is not far from the resort. Just turn right to light then left over the bridge to Hwy US 1. Turn left, it is a couple of miles on the right across from an Hall of some sort. It is small, but the food is terrific! More casual than ELLIE'S, but still really good! I envy you!

Hardwood Grill souds interesting. I can't picture it. I'm going to drive by there today to see what it is.

The Hardwood Grille is real easy to miss - the signage is somewhat obstructed. There is an American Legion or Italian Hall or something like that directly across the road that is very visible. I am sure it is no more than a couple of miles down US 1 on the right. We got there in 15-20 min from the Resort. It is a relatively small, square building with parking lot and it sits alone on the property. It seems to attract mostly 'locals' so it is good! Food is kind of upscale and innovative. Desserts are awesome! We have been there 3 times and it was very good each time. But I still stick to Ellie's as the best. You won't be disappointed!

I almost missed Hardwood Grille. It is easy to miss!

It looked nice on the outside. We'll have to give it a try soon.

We were driving around one night and found a place down on US1, south of the resort called Bono's. It is a rib joint. We thought it was really good. We also went to Ocean Grill as well. I really enjoyed that place.

We just returned from Vero Beach and spent several nights enjoying the live music at Capt. Hiram's Sandbar. The main restaurant sustained a lot of damage and they are working hard to restore it. In the meantime, the SandBar is up and running with a limited menu. This may not qualify as a special Valentine's Dinner but it is a place that should not be missed.

It was fun to watch the work in progress. Each day they were building more tables. The hired help seemed to be in good spirits and happy to be back to work.

We like the Black Pearl. It's about 4 miles south of Vero DVC on the right side of A1A.
