Vero Beach Question

I'm starting to think about Spring Break for 2012. We're going to WDW in August 2011 and January 2012 (for marathon weekend) and then we're going on the Disney Dream in June 2012. Definitely getting our Disney fix in the next year!
For Spring Break we were thinking about a beach vacation. I looked at properties on Captiva Island and various other places in Florida. (Since we're doing so many great trips, my DH doesn't want to travel too far or spend too much $$$.) All of the properties I was considering seemed to have very mixed reviews.
Then I remembered that Disney has a property in Vero Beach. The prices are actually comparable to other resorts I was considering. Is there enough at Vero Beach for a one week trip with 3 younger kids (8, 6, and not quite 4 at the time of travel)? Will it likely be warm enough the 1st week of April for swimming in the pool? What about in the ocean? Which airport is closest?

Thanks for any advice or suggestions! We aren't DVC members (yet...I'm still working on my DH) but we've stayed in other DVC properties at WDW.

We just got back from Vero with our kid ages 10, 11 & 13. They spent most of their time in the pool. The beach is a lot better now that Disney added sand to the beach. The drop off was not a concern. The kids had a great time on the beach.

Thank you! The activity schedule looks good. If we have a rainy day or the kids need a change of pace, there looks like a good variety.

I would definitely recommend Disney's Vero Beach! We have been a couple of times already, and it has become one of our favorite vacations. We are planning a trip for Spring Break next year as well!

I think a full week is perfect at Vero.

Check prices in to Melbourne airport. My parents often fly for $170 round trip from Michigan and the Melboyrne airport is close and convenient.

Thanks for the tip! Sadly our "preferred" airlines don't fly to Melbourne.
