Hi Everyone,

We're planning a trip to Vero Beach in August or September (but haven't made our reservations yet!). Does anyone know of a particular one-bedroom unit that has a decent ocean view? The last couple of years, we've stayed in the inn rooms with an ocean view, but we know that with the storms in the summer and fall of 2004, some of the lanscaping was wiped out. So....does anyone know of a specific one-bedroom unit we could request with a decent ocean view? We love the ocean view, but we also love the roomier one-bedroom unit.

Thanks for your help!
Mary Beth :rolleyes2

I wouldn't ask for a specific unit. The chances of you getting THAT particular unit are very slim. I would ask for a one bedroom with a view of the ocean on an upper floor. Throw in smoking or non-smoking if that is important to you.

I don't think they even take a request anymore for ocean view. Request upper floor this should improve your chances. We have been the last 7 summers and have recieved an ocean view 3 of the 7 times. Its complete luck. So Good luck!

I called last week to book a 2 Bdrm in August and had to change my plans because they were booked for the dates I wanted. You may want to call as soon as possible.

I called to reserve a two-bedroom unit for May and was told the only rooms with an ocean view are the Ocean View Inn rooms. I asked again if they were just not available, but was told other than the OVI rooms and the Beach Cottage, there are no rooms at all with ocean views.

Was I mislead? :confused3

No, NE14DisneyWorld?, there ARE villas with ocean views - but they won't guarantee them like they will guarantee Boardwalk Views.

We used to be able to "request" "direct ocean views" - but I don't think they will accept that request, anymore.

We have stayed in an Ocean View Inn Room or Beach Cottage on all of our VB trips except for one. That one time was in a 2-bedroom - and we "did" have an ocean view. The balcony was on the side of the building, so we had to look to our left to see the ocean - but it was still a nice view.

We visited with another DISer one time while we were at VB - and they had a 1-BR that had an AWESOME ocean view...

It's just the luck of the draw, I think... But you may be able to improve your chances by requesting an upper-floor.

There are a few studios, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units that have ocean views. However, for those types of units, the view is just a request, so you cannot reserve one.

Best wishes -

Thanks, everyone, for the replies. I guess we'll just do what we've done in the past when we've stayed in a one bedroom--request an upper floor room on the back (ocean side) of the building and hope for the best. We just noticed last April that a lot of the taller palm trees were gone from the storms and thought that more rooms might have less obstructed views of the ocean.

We do need to get busy with the reservations! We just decided this past weekend to go to VB, and unfortunately, Member Services is always closed when we get home from work, but tomorrow they're open late, so we'll call. I keep checking sites like Expedia, and they're still showing availability for our week. We'll keep our fingers crossed! :shamrock:
