Vero Beach next week

We leave Monday for Vero Beach. My DH told me this morning that they are reporting a horrible jellyfish and man-o-war population, so are recommending NOT going in the water! Great. Maybe the water will be too cold so we wouldn't be playing in it anyway, but that kind of put a damper on my enthusiasm!

We're leaving next tues for our first trip to vero! maybe we'll see you there! Thanks for the warning on the jellyfish. Luckily my DDs (7 & 5) don't want to venture very far in the water anyway. I'm just hoping for no thunderstorms!

Wondering as well how long they hang around? We leave on the 8th! Where do you find out something like that ahead of time?

We just got back from Vero beach on Sat 21st. The ocean felt very warm to me, posted 76 one day. The first couple of days we were there, we didn't see very many jellyfish, but the 3rd and 4th day the wind switched directions and the waves were huge, there were lots of tiny jellyfish all over the beach. There were 8 of us, and we were all in the water and no one got stung, but I think you need to be more careful walking on the shore. The last two days there were less jellyfish again, I think it just depends on the currents. The beach was wonderful, enjoy your trip.

Just home today and tons of jelly fish all over the beach. Too windy down at the water. Terrible riptides with warnings all week too. Weather was nice though high 70's and great at the pool.

I will post our findings after Monday, when we arrive. I made the mistake of telling my kids, and my poor DD7 is already having nightmares!!!

The great thing about the beach, generally speaking, is if you don't like the weather wait ten minutes. Rougher seas I think is usually what pushes jellyfish populations closer to shore, so things could change before Monday. If not, the pool is wonderful!

Just came home Sunday so maybe a lot changed in the last few days.

I had no issues. Was in the ocean every day jumping waves. And waves jumping me one day.
