I have planned several trips to WDW since we joined DVC in 2000, but this is our first trip to VB (in Jan 2003) and I am lost because I can't consult my books and plan days at the parks!
Any ideas on what to do with 2 adults (38 & 42), 2 seniors (62 and 60) and a 6 yr old son would be appreciated.
We will be at WLV for 3 days and driving to VB so this is the 2nd part of the trip. We are considering a trip to Kennedy Space Center, but not sure it will keep a 6yo interested.

Just relax...

There will be plenty of activities that your 6 year old can participate if they choose. The pool is wonderful (as long as the january weather cooperates) and most of the days can be spent there. A few years ago we took a cruise down the Indian River on the Lady Dolphin. It is a wildlife viewing cruise and saw all types of animals including dolphins (as the name of the boat suggests). The boat is about a 15 minute drive from the resort. You can ask guest services about it. Other than that we usually just relax around the resort, take walks on the beach, play in the pool and have a great time.

In case of a "rainy day", there is a mall(Indian River Mall) that is only 15 minute car ride away. It has a food court, movie theater, etc. If you would be going later(Feb,March) the Vero Beach Dodgers(L.A. Dodgers minor league team) play in Vero Beach.

Doing nothing is the best. Kennedy is good, there are several activities through the resort, hinking trails, and my favorite (eating).

I amy have also seen a water park in a web page, but I can't seem to locate it for you. At one time teh web page also showed a place where you could rent boats. There are also tours through a local airplane factory and orange groves.

There are nice shops to poke around in the downtown beach area of Vero beach that the seniors may enjoy. As mentioned, out on State Road 60 there is lots of shopping including a large mall. There is also a large outlet center just up the road and across from the mall.

I also enjoy driving around and exploring the area. You can head down A1A and travel the coast as far down as you'd like. You can also hop on 95 or Florida's Turnpike if you'd like to save time while heading down to the Stuart, Jupiter or Palm Beach areas.

Take a ride up to Sabastian Inlet. It is a nice park with a pier and a long jetty. We go up there every time . The surfers love it there. The manatees hang out down by the power plant which is fun to see. Try the conservation/nature center down by the bridge. See the stars and planets from the beach.

I love to go to VB and just relax!! But thats me (i Don't have a 6 year old). But there seemed alot to do for young and old alike. If you were going during Spring training I would suggest going to a game but hey get that next trip or maybe the year after.

The others have it covered. Try to go to VB and relax and unwind.Take a nice relaxing stroll down the beach.Explore some of the shops in old VB.Visit one of the treasure museums in the area.Enjoy the resort.Enjoy the area.:)

I called the resort ahead of time and they were able to give me all of the activities that are usually available. They told me to call 30 days out for restaurant information; ie. Thanksgiving dinner reservations, etc.

My understanding is that the nightly marshmallow roast and the daily pool area activities are enough to keep me and my three 8,8, & 10 happy for a relaxing visit.

We went to Vero Beach in May, 2001. I love lighthouses so we drove down the coast to Jupiter Island. Somewhere just north of Jupiter was a conservation area. The beach was really cool. There were "blowing rocks". The waves made holes in the rocks on the beach and the water just sort of "gushered out" of the rocks. I was trying to get a picture of the hole filling up and about that time a big wave came in and sprayed me. I had to wear wet blue jeans the rest of the day! That was worth seeing. The guide at the Jupiter Lighthouse told us about it.
