Is there any difference between owning points at Vero Beach versus owning points at one of the disney hotels, for example, Saratoga Springs? Can I still use my points to book rooms at the disney hotels? Are there any disadvantages to owning Vero Beach points?

The advantage to owning VB is that you get to book there 11 months ahead of your trip. You can also book at WDW/DVC resorts at the 7 month window before your trip PROVIDED there is something available. That is getting to be more and more difficult at certain times of the year with the increased numbers of members.

The disadvantage of owning at VB is that you will have the highest maintenance fees in the system. That, and the fact that you might not be able to get exactly the size unit at the specific resort you are looking for in the 7 month window at WDW.

If, on the other hand, you think you will like to stay at Vero most of the time and plan an occational trip to WDW, it is likely worth it, but if you ONLY want to use your DVC membership in WDW, then there isn't much point to paying the high fees at VB. Sure, the buy in is a bit lower, but you will more than make that up in increased fees over the life of the lease.

I had purchased a Vero resale back a few years ago and it was a great deal. Lots of banked/available points and paid $54 pp.

I used those points to cruise on DCL and still do that with the Vero points. I will mention I also own at BWV, BCV and OKW so the 11 month availability is there for me at those resorts.

We have stayed a few times at Vero and it is a gorgeous beach resort. I always book it as an add on to a WDW trip however. Could never fly to FL without seeing the Mouse, lol.
