We are staying at VB over Labor Day weekend, arriving on Saturday and leaving on Tuesday. We would appreciate the names of any local area restaurants that serve good food. We are headed up to Daytona Beach after the price hikes of Labor Day are over and have many favorite restaurants to choose from up there. We understand that we are dealing with a much more remote location at Vero but would assume that there are a few decent places get some good seafood within 10 miles or so. Thanks for any choices that you might be able to provice.

We were there for 1/2 a day few months ago and had lunch on property at Sonya's ( the casual restaurant). It was very good, reasonable in price and the service was good. We ate in the back area with a great view of the ocean.

The immediate area around the Disney resort is primarily residential. However, Vero Beach itself is a winter playground for the wealthy. There are restaurants. ;)

Vero is our home resort and our favorite restaurants are Ocean Grill, The Patio, and Captain Hiriams. I also recently read a good review about The Brasserie. Hope this helps:D

DVC1996,
Thanks for the response. We will definitely look into these. PamOKW, I really appreciate you letting me know that there are restaurants in the Vero area...but I kind of knew that, what we are inquiring about is the name and locations of some really good ones.:D

Sorry if it came across wrong. Maybe I read your original post wrong, too. It seemed as if you thought of Vero as some underdeveloped area.

I think the others have hit the usual suspects that come up on this board when looking for the area suggestions. Mr. Manatee's and the Lobster Shanty are also mentioned although I've never been to either one.

The Black Pearl and the Black Pearl Brassiere seem to be getting very good reviews from DIS folks.

The Ocean Grill has a great reputation in the area and I've enjoyed my meals there (with the exception of one). Here's a link to them Ocean Grill

Maybe I'm spoiled by New England seafood, but I've yet to find a place in Florida that really wows on the seafood. It's been awhile but I was less than enthusiastic about the on-site restaurants at Vero. My last meal at Sonya's will keep me from returning and I think Shutters is a nice atmosphere with so-so food. I enjoy the snack bar and the Green Cabin Room.

we really enjoyed the ocean grill. (we also liked the green cabin room on property) We didn't eat at either shutters or sonya's, just because they seemed expensive being disney and all. I figure it's all the same food on property and the green cabin room had entertainment and a nice balcony. The buffalo chicken was really good as was the pizza. Enjoy! (ps: a lot of the restaurants in town seem to not be open sunday and monday, but there is a book in the lobby with directions to a lot of them and their hours) maggie

My Mother in law lives in Vero, right down the street from the Disney Resort. The best restaurant near there is The Hardwood Grill. I will find out the address. It is fantastic!
Enjoy!

Don't get talked into goiing to the Lobster Shanty. WE did and it was a big mistake. We were going to go to the Ocean Grill but was told how "great" the Lobster Shanty was. It was not great just so-so. Being from Boston, we have tasted alot of great seafood and this one was far from great!!!

We also ate at Shutters (the casual restaurant at the resort) for lunch (burgers, salads etc) and breakfast and the food was good. We did not eat at Sonya's this time but have had their Sunday brunch (it was Fathers Day) and it was wonderful.

Have a great time at Vero, we did and always do!
