Vero Beach December Pool Temperature

I would like to find out who is responsible for the pool temperature at Vero Beach during December and January. We went on vacation there a couple of years ago over the Christmas holiday, and unfortunately, it was a little bit cold, about 68 degrees. The very unfortunate part was that the pool was very cold which inhibited swimming over our vacation. This was totally unneccessary. If the pool would have been heated to a more reasonable temperature, swimming would have been a very nice option and a wonderful activity over our vacation. We are going to BCV and Vero over the holiday and want to start communicating our expectations about the pool temperature to the proper person, to help create a nice vacation experience. While this may be less of an issue at WDW where there are manyh alternative activities, Vero is mainly a swimming vacation for us.

I know Florida is a risk in December and swimming may not be an option, but keeping the pool warmer in 68+ degree weather can make a huge difference for Christmas/holiday vacationers ability to swim. I hear HH does a great job with this.

I should have raised the issue immediately with the resort management at our last visit, but I thought a little proactive proding and communication for this next trip wouldn't hurt.

I'll go ahead and drop Jackie Lueders a note, and see what turns up.

It's my understanding that pool temps are supposed to be maintained around 85 degrees or so regardless of time of year - certainly that was the temp of the pool at Hilton Head in late December last year when we visited (actually both pools were nice and warm).

Sounds like they might have been having technical difficulties when you visited.

Great news, thank you for sharing. I've heard HH is great with this, I'm looking forward to confirming that for Vero, cause it sure wasn't the case for our visit.

I'll keep trying. 85 would have made a huge difference in our entire vacation.

You brave soul. :)

We live across the state from VB. Hubby is a private pilot so every year for my birthday (Dec. 29th) we fly to Vero for lunch to celebrate. In the past it's been very cold. Daytime highs in the 60's. For us thin blooded folk down here in Florida that is way too cold for the pool no matter what the water temp is. But on each of our trips the pool has been full of (obvious northerners) enjoying the water. As we walk by in sweaters and leather jackets I just smile. It's April through September for us lightweights. :)

Captain Midnight I will stop by the resort this week and see if I can find you a definitive answer.(wish I would have seen your message sooner was just there this morning:()

OK stopped back down this morning for breakfast at Shutters(by the way IMHO really reasonable prices for breakfast.Have heard some complaints about high prices for lunch, dinner)Here was the "official" word from a resort manager CM this morning: The pool is kept at 82F.I mentioned some complaints about pool temps in the past and she said "we will keep it at 82". By the way the ocean temp today was still 76F:) 2-4 ft seas with some rips.

Your welcome.Hope they keep their word make your trip alot more enjoyable. Was there between 8-9AM and the lifeguards were out and the slide was open. The resort seemed deserted except for some folks having breakfast.
Will be interesting to hear(if you ever do)what MS says.

Got a phone call from Ms. Lueder today who told me that since January of 2001 the Vero Beach pool is kept at 85 degrees year round.

That's wonderful news, and should greatly improve the feasibility for swimming over the very cold temperatures we experienced the year before.

Thanks for the news Ms. Lueder, and all above who replied.
