Vero Beach December. Enough to do?

How is the weather( I know it is variable, but in general) Is it warm enough to go swimming in the ocean? Is there places that you can go Kayaking,Boat tours, enough restaurants open? My kids are 20 & 23, athletic & active. Thanks for any info

There's about the same as any time of year. Vero is for relaxing...

I love the weather here in December. Occasionally, we will get a cold spell.

December is during “season” when the snowbirds are here so restaurants are open and busy.

We visited Vero when our kids were 27 and 19, our sons are also very athletic and active, but went when they could fully take advantage of the pool and ocean, hang out on the beach, etc. Personally, I don't think that the ocean and pool would be warm enough to swim in during December. We are living in Florida now, so we are "spoiled" with the warm Gulf as well as enjoying warm pools and ocean when we visited Vero two weeks ago. The ocean water was 84 degrees, so awesome, didn't want to leave! .
Even when we lived up north, we would not expect to go to either Hilton Head or Vero in December and be able to swim. When we were in Hilton Head with our sons in May and June, all four of us rented wave runners which was awesome, right by the lighthouse.Just my personal opinion, pool temp and ocean temp at Vero would be too unpredictable. We had a fabulous trip during early December to WDW, we wanted to see the Candlelight Processional Show at Epcot for the first time. We stayed at Grand Floridian Villas that year and yes, we sat by the pool at the Grand Floridian during the day, sunny and very pleasant daytime weather, maybe high 70's, 80, BUT all we could use was the hot tub..Pool too cold. No one was swimming. Nights get COLD.
"Food for thought"..Go to Vero when your kids can fully enjoy the ocean and pools..My vote is mid May onward.
