Vero Beach Cast Member Issues

Is it me or does anyone else notice that Cast Members at Vero are just not up to Disney Standards.

It does not seem like Vero gets as many younger energetic interns as WDW gets. I just returned from Vero and had several unfortunate and outright rude issues with cast members at their community hall. I also had some great interactions with cast members at Vero.

By the way, we absolutely love Vero. Just wondering if anyone else notices a difference in cast member pleasantness.

Wow, sorry that happened to you. Our DGC did some arts and crafts, and I think Consuela (sp?) was wonderful. Very patient, very helpful. We had no complaints and lots of pixie dust from the CM's at VB.

I'm happy that you do enjoy VB otherwise. What happened?

Years ago, when we were new members, the CMs at VB were the best in the world - soooooo friendly. I have absolutely noticed that they are not nearly as happy, warm, and friendly as they used to be

Just speculation, because I have no idea...but does VB even employ any young interns? Does WDW keep them primarily over at the World? I would venture a guess that the employees at VB are more your local residents. Anybody know?

Yes they have some intern people and they were great.they did the campfire sing along.


By the way it is not a big deal for us. Vero is absolutely heaven this time of year. Ocean was warm and the water was so beautiful. We just love the resort more every time we go.

I just want others to love the vero and service to stay Disney quality.i did report the incident.

We have only been once, last September, and in ALL AREAS we felt they were awesome- from the beach walk ( and we had a question about some grass on the beach- later in the day she found us with a book and explained it to us , to the CM who ran after us on the bocce lawn to give us horseshoes, to the servers in all venues ( although the one in Shutters was cluless about the new wine switch, but to be fair, it literally came out that day), not to mention one of the warmest greetings I have ever received pulling into a resort, and even the warmth radiating from the check-in....seriously...all good and GREAT! I hope yours was an unfortunate circumstance, and you will have more magic on your next visit!

I reported this same thing after our 4 night stay in July. It was not what I expected at all. I had read on here about the CM's at Vero and HHI being wonderful. We arrived on July 21st and departed on July 25th and it was a totally different atmosphere as far as the CM's went. I called Vero Disney Lite.

We went to the character breakfast on that Sat. We did have a late ressie at 10:50 I think. Our waiter was not happy. He never smiled. He acted like he was ready to get the heck out of there. The one guy who worked at the counter service place by the pool...he was another one that seemed to be miserable working there. The CM's at the front desk were all fine. There was a young guy working in the store. He was so quiet and shy. He barely talked when you bought something. We did like the people that worked in the Green Cabin Room . I wouldn't go as far as to say that all the CM's were not up to the Disney CM's, but it was noticeable with some of them. It is just a different feeling there.

There was a young boy working in the gift shop/store and he was not from Vero. I forget now because I asked him.

Neither have we, though we go during spring break time. I always hear the CM's getting compliments from guests on how nice they are compared to what they just experienced at WDW.

We were at Vero last month and we thought the CMs were every bit as friendly and helpful as they were at WDW. Maybe even more so. The CM seemd older than at WDW- not as many college age intern types- and, to me anyway, they seemed to take a lot of pride in their work and the resort.

We've really never had a problem, but we don't use the community hall. We've occasionally had a waiter/waitress who was obviously not having a good day, but we figured that happens to all of us from time to time.

Though we also do really like the bell service staff at SSR. They remember us from our yearly T-giving trips. Perhaps it's the sizeable order from Garden Grocer.

I can't say that I had any problems with any of the CMs, but I did notice that they seemed to be quite older, so I assumed they were not college interns but rather locals. As I said, we didn't have any problems but having an older workforce there was a mixed bag. In some ways it was nice because things did not feel rushed and I think they took the time to engage you in conversation more rather than a "good morning!" and hurry off. On the other side of the coin, there were some older CMs (particulairly the lifeguard) that fit the "Grumpy Old Man" persona. One thing I noticed was that the snack bar and Eb & Flo's seemed to close much earlier than I expected, and I had wondered if that was due to a shortage of staff. I should also add that Eb & Flo's was staffed by younger CMs and they were quite nice and energetic.

Oh, I didn't! He was very chatty with me and he would actually initiate the conversation. Maybe it was because I look young (still get carded from time to time).

Yes, most definitely true. The check in CMs were pleasant as can be and in fact they noted my daughters birthday that we were celebrating at the front desk with a pin and then a few hours later there was color picture signed by Goofy wishing her a happy birthday that magically had been slid under our door! Nice touch!

The same was true at the store. Each morning when I went to pick up the paper I was greeted by some very cheerful people. I would try to answer that days trivia question and I was wrong most of the time but it didn't matter, the CMs were part of the fun when I went in there.

I was going to mention that the lifeguards were definitely older than those you would see at WDW. That was okay with me. They were working hard to keep some rowdy teens in line when I was there.
