This will be the first of a number of room reports I owe the board as a result of our Jan/04 WDW/DVC escapades.

Was originally going into a VB BC for 2 nights to make DW feel really away from it all for her Jan trip to VB and also to impress the infamous MIL

For some background, MIL sold the family cottage last year to my SIL and BIL (DW's Sister) and was somewhat concerned/confused by our lack of interest - I picked specific DVC properties and room types to show her our "cottage/vacation property"

Ended up just one night (swapped the other night into a BW GV with the 21 points difference tacked on - will post separately) in the BC

Arrived around 3:00pm and BC #1550 was ready for us to occupy. All were suitably impressed including myself - I believe it is the absolute best room type in all of DVC (have not stayed at an OKW GV so cannot be totally sure). With the 4 large porches back and front, the swing bench out front, the cathedral ceilings on the 2nd floor and the three bedrooms on the ground floor, it is an awesome combination. I am not sure how many square feet it was but it felt really big.

The view of the ocean and the sound of the waves at night were absolute sensory delights.

The BC was in very good shape - only thing we noticed was the bathrooms could stand to be a little better kept with respect to mildew/mold in some of the grout areas (I know this is very very hard to keep under control). We also had some "sugar ants"? - very very small critters - these were controlled by keeping all food in the fridge (they were on the counter) - we called maintenance and a nice CM came and tracked them with a flashlight and viewing glass and placed the baits after getting our ok in the appropriate places - 12 hours later, the critters were gone!

The beds were in great shape, all floors were clean, kitchen was fully stocked.

We would strongly recommend a BC to those who have not experienced it before and look forward to when we can stay in one again.

We will be posting pics in the near future.....

Note: VB still only has VCR's in the rooms

thanks

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear that the MIL was suitably impressed -- and that you surprised yourself as well!

I agree with the "wow" part......I toured a BC in 2000 and it was just beautiful and so spacious. Loved the decks. Thanks for the report. Looking forward to seeing the pics :D
