Finally decided on our last minute Feb trip and we will be going to Vero Beach. We are staying with friends (not at DVC). What is there to do in the area?

Also we will be landing in Sanford and driving to Vero Beach. What is a good place for supper along our way?

thanks

we went for spring break last year. We went to a great pizza place down the road...i'll have to look up the name. Just wanted to point out...go check out the DVC boards here..you can get a lot of information on vero beach from there. I will say, we didn't find all that much to do other than the beach/shop stuff. But I know others on the dvc boards who have been there more will probably have more info.

Thanks for the reply. It will just be nice to be where it is warm!! I will check out the DVC boards too.

For lots of options--just about midway between Sanford and Vero...

You can stop at the Viera Exit in Melbourne.

By the highway there is a cracker barrel adjacent to the exit...

Turn right and head to the avenues and there is lots of options for sit down and quick eats. I like Mimi's cafe and there is an asian quick place that is good but I cannot remember the name.

There of course is also McD's, Wendy's and Chick Fil A.

Sorry that I do not know much about Vero. I know they have a mall and an outlet mall and they do have a baseball field that I think has a minor league and at one time had a major league do spring training there. I do not know if they still do.

DVC may definitely have more info from the owners and vacationers who go down there. I used to work at the DVC resort and they had a huge book on various activities and places to eat in the area. Definitely visit the beach.

Go to Captain Hiram's! I don't know the address, but it's just down the road from DVB resort and they have a website. It's a restaurant that's right on the beach. The food isn't awesome, but it's not bad either and the atmosphere is great. There's live music most of the time. They also have a sunset boat ride that we took and it was wonderful. The guides were great and we saw TONS of dolphins. Most of the attractions close to Vero are nature reserves and stuff because it's not it a very populated area. So if you're into that sort of thing it's great.

Very cool place.

It is on US1 though. They gave it a "beach" along the Indian River.
