Lisa & Vero beach fans,

Seems we were there at the same time and my daughter recognized your daughter - sure they spent quality time at the top of the slide shivering waiting for there turn.

It was our first trip to Vero and we loved it. Sadly, my husband past away in February, so this was a difficult first vacation without him, but we choose the perfect spot. Traveling alone with 3 children young children (almost 11, 9, & 4)is daunting, but Disney VB was great for all.

Therese- I hope your time on the beach, no matter how chilly it was, gave your family some good family time. Something about those ocean waves heal the soul.

I'm so sorry to hear about your older two have such a rough time getting home. Being sick when you travel is the pits! ...and surgery on top of that! Man how awful!

It is pretty cool when you realize you knew someone from the boards. That truly is all my DD6 did when we were at the pool. She did shed the life-vest mid-way through our trip. I think that was more for my piece of mind then for her. I wish I had remembered you where going to be there I would have said 'hi'.

I do agree with you about the kids meals. When we purchased our VB points, the restaurants was one of the things we looked at and thought would make us happy for trips. Well that has definitely changed! Two years ago there were 10 kids meals to chose from and all of them things the kids would easily eat. There were also a sandwich or two that was great for our disney adult, DD12, and two vegetarian entrees (along with some appetizers). The menu was really cut down from it's previous form. Two years ago we ate at Shutters 4 times this year only once.

The airboat ride sounds like fun. We've never done one. How noisy it it? DD6 doesn't like loud noises. What company did you use and where did you go? (ETA: saw the company link) Would you do it again? or suggest it for others?

after having to cancel our May trip (we should be on the plane right now :sad1: ) DH said we can go back in September :) We are now scheduled to arrive on Sept 4-8 :woohoo: I used pts for Thurday and Sunday and paid cash for the weekend, couldn't beat the rate $146.25 for OVIR....YES !!!

 Good for you! Gotcha back on the list.

Yeah Keliblue ! So glad you're getting to go. You got an awesome cash rate too :thumbsup2

Two quick questions--and one thing exciting to mention. First the exciting thing, I got my waitlist for a 2 bedroom our first night in June. We had had a lock-off then were getting into the dedicated 2 bedroom for the rest of the stay. Now there is no switching!! Yea. So it leads me to my questions.
1) On the website where I just noticed this good news, it makes it look like separate reservations still--the one night now in the 2 bedroom, then the remaining 4 nights also in a 2 bedroom. It will be combined right? I want no switching rooms.
2) We will be coming from WDW , do most of you stop for groceries before getting to the resort? It doesn't seem far, but at the same time, it seems a pain to have to go back out. Remind me which store or Walmart we will be passing coming from WDW.

Thanks!

I can relate; we should be in FL right now, getting ready to drive up to WDW for our 26th anniv, but we had to cancel last minute (i.e. cancelled Friday 5/2 & we were flying out 5/3). So glad you got to re-schedule. We had to put our points into holding ( it was only for 2 nights) so we have til 11/30 to use them. When you go to VB, where do you fly into? We have always gone to WDW & flown into MCO, but didn't know if there was a better airport to fly into. Thanks, & have fun in Sept. Deb

MS should have linked them. You can make sure when you check-in. Switching rooms will not be necessary.

We typically go to the resort first. It is hard to pack in groceries with luggage still in there. Plus, if your wait is longer than you anticipated you're going to be worrying about the perishables. However, you will have garage parking so you car won't have to sit in the sun. Have a good trip :beach:

Thanks for the great tip on free KSC tickets via your local congressman. I called today, and they quickly took my info, and said they would take care of it. :goodvibes

What a great thread! Hubby is super happy about the KSC info!

We will be there 6/5 to 6/7. We are going to go for a few nights after our Wonder cruise!

Just got back from VB on Sunday and had great time. Based on this thread my family and I went to Squid Lips on Saturday night and really enjoyed ourselves. Anyone with a food allergy should do fine here; my DD8 has a life-threatening allergy to peanuts and nuts and she was able to eat safely.

Prior to our trip I emailed the restaurant and got a reply from the GM, Jay, who coincidentally, has food allergies as well. He assured me that my daughter would have plenty to choose from and she did. BTW, she went with the grouper with honey lime marinade. Yum! My only complaint -- the tables were so sticky, I don't think they had been washed in months!

any updates on the condition of the beach? I have been reading several pages back in this thread. From the looks of the pics posted it is hard to really walk along the beach/surf.

Is that the case?

We will be there in June and the beach is really the big draw for us. We love the resort as well. The pool isn't as big of a draw - we an lounge around the pool here at home - but we sure don't have the ocean anywhere near us.

I wouldn't cancel our trip there - just want to mentally prepare myself if the beach is going to be a lot different.

We were there about a month ago, and the beach was great! We walked the beach every morning. Have a great time on your trip!

I'm not worrying Jen. Even though the surf at some time recently surged and took a bite out of the top sand, there will still be the same amount of beach area. It is not as though the water is any closer to the Inn... not until a few more glaciers melt and the ocean actually rises. Maybe sooner than later though... not a good time to be buying ocean front property. :sad2: But still a darn good time to be going to VB.

Look forward to a great trip :beach:
