Arriving April 12 - 19th, with my 3 kids ages 10,9, & 4, Trip we planned last year, unfortunately I am doing it alone as my husband passed away in Feb from lung cancer. It will be a difficult trip, but the children & I need something fun to look forward to and Vero seems to be it. keep the messages coming - especially dining options and fun things for kids.

Oh SleepingBeauty!!  I didn't read you post all the way through the first time. Sounds like this is a well needed but bitter sweet trip. :beach: pixiedust:

We will be at Vero June 22 - 26.....it will be our first trip to Vero....looking forward to it.......We always go to the Outer Banks in the spring and fall and Myrtle Beach in the summer time.....if fact were going to Myrtle Beach the last week in July......Life is good.........:thumbsup2

You're not related to Parcells are you? Just kidding... I think you will find VB to be out of this world when it comes to having the beach. It is truly just us. Life is very good at VB. You will have some decisions to make for the future.

One thing Vero Beach does not offer is the ability to walk down the beach to a beachside cafe. Disney is the only thing around for a long way down the beach. There was a little store in the circle next to Disney that had OK icecream, but no other places to beachwalk to.

We've been to the Emergency Department at Vero Beach. Competent and well cared for there. Nice to know there are health facilities if needed.

My mom has asked me to find out if there is a "local" beauty shop. She gets her hair "done" every week and wants to get it done before we leave on the Panama Canal cruise on 5/9. Any suggestions?

When we bought into DVC, the condition was I'm not giving up my summer beach week at Myrtle Beach......the wife says 'who knows you might love Vero Beach and make that our annual beach week'.....well see....looking forward to Vero and it can't come soon enough...

I believe there used to be one right on the opposite corner of the resort. Don't know if it is still there. I believe it was pricy. The Greatclips is in the same shopping center as the local Publix, adult beverage store and chinese take out.

rdp007phd says : Oh, thought of an upcoming need. What's the best Pizza in Vero Beach?

Not sure if it's the best, but these two got good reviews. One was mentioned on page 1 of this thread :

What are my dining/grocery options outside of the resort?
Orchid Island Pizzeria right next to DVBR on the corner of A1A and 510. They serve a thin crust style pizzia with choice of lots of toppings, pasta dinners, and hot and cold subs. They will also deliver to the lobby of the resort. 772-388-5151

I also read there is a Nino pizza. It is located off of Ocean Drive, a few blocks south of Ocean Grill. You can dine-in there, too, unlike Orchid Pizza.

News from the Baltimore Sun....Orioles trying to secure Vero Beach as their new training camp facility! Should be by 2009 once all the red tape is cut. Good news for those Orioles fans!!!:thumbsup2

This is actually what we love most about the VB resort. You start with an ocean side cafe, then a boardwalk emerges, then before you know it you have another Myrtle Beach or Ocean City. Turtles don't like all that confustion. :sad2:

Not another Ocean City!!!! Hopefully with all of the turtle stuff, VB will become a protected area, thus restricting all that growth! Say it ain' so!

Is this really true? Excellent news, so fun to see baseball up and close, a real treat.

Hay the other post about a cafe then a boardwalk and then Ocean City, that's a great point. One always has the resort for any food/cafe needs. I would not like to see growth like that start up. We sure enjoy the resort the way it is. Guess I was in a glass is half empty kind of mood, thanks for the positives.

Thanks for the pizza locations. Anyone know who's pizza is the best in Vero or Sabastian? Is there one you'd highly recommend?

Perhaps this is already buried in this thread somewhere, but it's likely the Orioles will come to replace the Dodgers.
The Dodgers are heading to Arizona. I'm not sure if they will rename the area "Orioletown".
Bobby's restaurant is also known for the Dodgers. It will be interesting to see if it morphes into an Oriole hang out. :smokin:
