Greetings all. We are staying at VB 4/1 through 4/6. All the details for getting there (except packing) are complete.

What we haven't investigated due to lack of time is what to do once we get there. So, if anyone has experience, please advise with your best ideas, etc.

We are taking our DS (11), DD (17) and her friend (17). The girls will have limited freedom, but we'll hang out as a group most of the time.

What has been your experience with the weather that time of year? Any great ideas other than lying at the pool and on the beach? Are the restaurants on site adequate for the stay or any recommended off-site spots?

Anything you can help us with would be greatly appreciated!
TIA.

We've been 3 times (all October trips) so I can't help you with weather and such. But, my DS10 participated in several of the resort sponsored activities and enjoyed them all. He particularly liked archery and an activity where they left the resort and went to an environmental/educational center and then went to a marsh area and used nets to pull in different "creatures" and learn about them. The naturalists that were there when we were there did a great job with my very curious 10yo. Also, while we were there, it seemed like a lot of the teenagers would hang out together in the evenings - so your DD & her friend might enjoy that. The resort restaurants are nice, but I would probably tire of eating there exclusively. There are several places that are often recommended here that are a bit north of the resort - one being Capt. Hirim's and Squid Lips. We liked Capt. Hirim's but haven't tried Squid Lips. There are also many nice places to eat in VB. For a nice meal, try the Ocean Grille - we had a wonderful meal there. Ususally when we go to the beach, we're looking for rest and relaxation - VB really fits the bill for that!

Besides the ones mentioned already.....

If you have the time, there are plenty of restaraunts with-in 10 miles or so from the resort. If you go South on US1 you will have all the usual chains like
Outback,Chile's,Carabba's,Denny's,Arbys,McDonalds,etc.

If you go near the Indian River Mall on Route 60 you have Bob Evans,TGIF,Italian Grille,Gators, and there is a food court inside the Indian River Mall also.

PS.. I see that you are from Fishers,IN.......our son,DIL and grandkids live in Carmel. They just moved there from Pittsburgh about 8 months ago.We have been to Carmel-Fishers 3x already. Its a really nice area!!

We will also be in Vero with my DW and DD (16) and her friend the same time.
We have been to Vero at least six times during this week. Our favorite is the Ocean Grill. Nino's is a little Italian resturant that is a block away from the Ocean Grill. There are a couple of other resturants in that area.

You can give your daughter and her friend all the freedom they want. Vero is a small self contained resort. My daughter loves Vero. You can do nothing or do the wave runners, play tennis or go kayaking, etc.

It is a big week in Vero for people from Ill. We meet the same people every year. We will see you there.

Any questions, just e-mail me.

Mike
