I was an Alltel customer that was just converted to Verizon after the recent takeover. I have a couple of questions.

1. I can upgrade my phone next week, what phone do you recommend? I am currently considering the LG env2 and chocolate 3. I currently have an LG AX8600 or something like that and I have horrible reception. My husband has the LG Wave which was a cheaper phone but his reception is much better than mine.

2. How do I get the ringtones off of myxer onto my phone? I sent the ringtone but the text message just gave me a website to go to. Did I do something wrong?

Thanks

I was just phone shopping myself. The LG ENV3, Touch and Dare all look cool.

I ended up with the BlackBerry Curve and love it!!!!!

I'm not sure about the ringtones.

the verizon store can transfer all your info, for a fee of course.
I think with ringtones you call and get credited for the ones you own, then redownload them.

so make a list of which ones you have.

I have had very good luck with LG phones and verizon. But my latest upgrade (a while ago) was to a palm treo. it has calendar and lots other functions to help me.

If you are considering a phone running Windows mobile make sure it is upgradeable to version 6.5 when it comes out. It should be out July-ish. It will be a much better phone experience.

My vote would be for any Blackberry device that isn't the Storm. If you have some time to wait Verizon is getting the Blackberry Tour in the near future and my friend (who works at Verizon Wireless) says it should be a good phone.

Verizon is also going to be selling a Palm WebOS phone which is the operating system the new Palm Pre runs on. I would wait for the first firmware upgrade or service pack as any first-gen phone will have some bugs that need worked out.

Are the plans more for a blackberry? I would like one but really don't want to pay anymore than I already am paying now for 3 phones.

Own the Dare and the Envy 2 love them both....I highly suggest the Envy Touch it's the best of both worlds.

As for Ringtones....unless Verizon just changed Myxer no longer works with any opf their phones. neither does phone zoo. It's Verizions attempt to force you to buy their ringtones.

My suggestions make your own ringtones with audicity, save them to a sd card(what ever one your phone takes), then text them to yourself...saves you alot of cash, and you can make anything you want!!! (just keep them to 30sec. or less clips-otherwise the files are too large to send)

Oh forgot to mention IF you have any technical know how then Bitpim is a brilliant little program. It's freeware from bitpim.org.....if you don't know what your doing though don't mess with it you can damage the operating system on yoru phone.

I only get Motorola phones because of where I live (they get the best reception/farthest range, and I live in the sticks). I just upgraded and got a Moto755. I love it because it uses an SD card, so I can get music and pictures on and off easily (and free), and I don't need my MP3 player anymore. I don't text, though...so my needs in a phone don't include keyboards, etc.

The plan is around $80 a month which includes the data plan. I put off getting one for a while because I did not want to pay that much more. But it's been worth It. I love being able to get email instantly. I can buddy chat with DH without paying text fees. And I am actually posting from my BB right now. :)

I am also due for a new phone and don't know what to get - love reading everyone's replies.

I have a Dare and it's a great phone.

The EnV Touch would be my choice if I was buying one today.

BTW, if you buy a "smartphone" or PDA from Verizon you must sign up for the data plan.

At least thats what I was told at 2 different Verizon stores within the last month.

that is what I was told also, by the sales guy. One month minimum for the rebate. but then I called customer service and was able to cancel it. I am currently paying only $25 a month for unlimited data and with one email account sinc-ed.
