I see many questions about phone and texting services while on a cruise. I just used a verizon service while on tne Jan 10 southern Caribbean cruise that was awesome. In every country we were in, as soon as we got into port I got a text from Verizon asking if I wanted t use Travel pass for the day. It cost $10 a day and allows you to utilize your call, text and data plan usage while on land. You just txt back yes and it goes into effct once you use the device, in this case, my iPhone. My husband had some calls to make and I utilizd the data a few times, without paying the outrageous fees you usually get charged. There is a list on the Verizon web site about which countries have travel pass capability.

So how did you get the text? I am assuming you just turned on your phone and it was one that came through. What type of plan do you have in the US?
