Would it be better for our budget to get a plan through verizon directly or at a store?

I see phones on sale in the ads for like best buy or target etc... but I don't know anything about getting verizon service like this.

So any advice would help!

Thanks!

IME working for another cell phone company, and being a Verizon customer, you are better off going directly through Verizon. The actual monthly cost will be the same, and the cost of the phone will not be that different when you look at the possible ramifications. When you purchase through another vendor, you are purchasing through a third party company (another hand in the pot). Many times their deals are tied to additional requirements- like you will get an additional discount on the phone, but you have to keep a data plan that you do not want or need. If you fail to keep the plan, they can charge you additional costs.

The most important thing is carefully reading over anything you sign, asking about any catches for the deal you are getting, watching your next couple (first couple) of bills very carefully, and remembering that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The plans are the same. You may get some different pricing on the phones, or perhaps some free or discounted accessories, but they do not have "Target Exclusive" plans that are better priced.

The savings (if any) will be on the phone, but it is small compared to 24 months of service charges.

When I last upgraded my phone, I tried to get the best deal through Verizon's online site, but wanted to touch and see the phones first. I went to a Verizon store to play with them. I actually got a better price on the handset than I could online by talking through the various promos that they had running. Seems unusual to get better pricing in the store, but it worked out that way.

I personally did better by going thru costco for mine. Free activation, free case, car charger, hands free head set plus phone was 10.00 cheaper. I had done my shopping and knew I was doing better this way.

To put your mind at ease, all Target Mobile employees actually work for Radio Shack (who has been in the cell phone game long before it went mainstream).

Same here. I have gotten my last 3 upgrades through Costco as well. Well worth the added savings.

From personal experience, it's better to go directly through Verizon. Reason being is if there is a problemw ith the phone itself, you have to go back through the third party seller, not Verizon. That can be a pain in the behind.

I find sometimes if you call Verizon Wireless directly you can get a good deal :thumbsup2 they ship the phone right to your house :)

We got our Verizon phones (it was time for an upgrade) through Best Buy. This was a first for us. We have been Verizon customers for 12 years and this was the first time we went through BB. We got a great deal, plus our warranty for the phones is through best buy. It was better coverage and less for the warranty. If we had done the warranty with Verizon, there is a deductible to replace the phone but not through Best Buy. Plus, my son didn't like his Incredible, the battery died daily so he returned it at the 28 day mark and they even refunded his case, the protective screen cover too. We were very happy with Best Buy. :thumbsup2
