My DH has been waiting for this to happen! He is so excited. Finally Verizon gets the iPhone! Anyone else excited about this news?
:cool1::banana:

ME!!! I'm excited, too!:cool1:

My contract with Verizon expired in Oct and I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for the iPhone. DH kept trying to get me to upgrade to an Droid. Glad I didn't listen to him!

I am by no means a cell phone expert, but DH has the Droid X, a good friend of ours has the iphone 4 (I think), and none of us sees the other as being the better phone:confused3. So to me, it's basically 6 of one, and a half dozen of the other.

I am!!!! I have wanted an iphone for 3 years, and finally told my dh last summer that in april when my verizon contract is up I was getting one. now I can keep verizon and still get my phone!!!! :) :) :)

Dang, we just signed a two year Verizon contract with Droids. I guess we can live with them, we have two IPOD Touch in the house, three laptops and a desk top, three Droids and a partridge in a pear tree. Can live without IPhones. :)

Eh, don't really care either way. Not a big fan of the proprietary control Apple has on their products (we do have an iPad, but still I think it is somewhat limited).

I was really hoping to upgrade to the iPhone but there were so many mixed reports. I went ahead and got the Droid Incredible. I got it free at Best Buy right at the end of the year (2010).

I love it! I saw today the 2/10/11 date and thought oh well.

I have a lot of friends with iPhones and my DH has a Droid. I've heard a lot of complaints for the iPhone.

I wouldn't want to pay the $200 for the phone anyway. Maybe in 2 years i'll upgrade but for now i'm really happy with my little and LIGHT incredible! the iPhone is like a brick compared.

FYI: I don't know anything about this, but they had an "expert" on last night who said the IPhones that you get from AT&T and the IPhones you would have with Verizon are different and one will not work on the other network. If you switch from AT&T to Verizon, you will need to purchase a new phone.

Verizon and AT&T use different technology to communicate, so that is a given that the phones don't interchange.

One month after the iPhone for Verizon is released, sitting next to the iPhone will be the Droid Bionic. I really don't see many people buying the iPhone for Verizon.

The iPhone can only do slow 3G data, and you can't talk and do data at the same time. Bionic has super fast 4G data, and can surf and talk at the same time. The iPhone has one slightly less than 1 GHz processor. Bionic has 2 faster 1 GHz processors. iPhone can't replace the battery or on board storage, Bionic can. iPhone requires you to use iTunes to do anything, and even simple tasks such as transferring a song on your phone to another person is not allowed. Bionic doesn't force you to use any specific software and lets you do whatever you want with your own data.

Apps purchased with iTunes can't be undone. Apps purchased with Bionic can be refunded if you find your impulse wasn't worth it. Of course some people just need to have an iPhone, regardless of how silly a decision that may be.

I am excited to be able to get rid of AT&T. :)

Does anyone know the monthly phone & data cost (not what the phone will cost, but how much I'll send to Verizon each month). Thanks!!

And it's being released on my birthday....I consider that a sign. :)

I don't get it either. I love my Droid and can't even begin to understand the hoopla! I just don't understand the whole thing at all. My Droid is a great phone with tons and tons of features, functions and apps.....I don't understand the consumerism that drives people to constantly need some new gizmo just for the sake of having a new gizmo :confused3

I am a Verizon customer with an upgrade due in April, guess I will need to decide between the Iphone and Droid. I understand Droid's have more apps than Iphone and you can replace the battery easily with the Droid. Tell me more benefits of the Droid vs. Iphone!

Thanks

What is silly to you is not by default silly for everyone. :teacher:

I have no problem with our AT&T service on our iPhones (except at WDW where I understand all networks are clogged and slowish), but I'm glad for the news because it means competition and competition is good for the consumer. AT&T will have to step up their game and both will have to be priced competitively. Just as having Droid phones is good because it forces Apple to improve the iPhone.

As a Verizon cutomer I am glad they are getting it, but as a Verizon customer, I can't afford the required data plan...:rotfl: honestly, the $15 plan is not really adequate for the abilities of the phone and $30 a month irritates me as I feel like I will be paying double for a connection that I already have at home. I am more interested in the KIN 2..si I can have wi-fi access when free, and then use our home connection. For those who do need all that the Iphone has to offer tho, I think it is great as Verizon to me, stillhas the best reception. It ill alll slow down some now tho...simple supply and demand, even w/4G

I totally get why some don't see why this is a big deal and why some don't like the iPhone. Personally I have a regular phone and don't like all the bells and whistles. DH on the other hand......

He has had every Droid phone they have made so far and has had numerous problems with them. Currently he has a Droid X and hates it.(this is his 4th!) We only use Apple computers and products and it is a big pain for him to not be able to hook his phone up to our computer to upload music, apps, etc... We are big Apple fans and the iPhone is the only product from them we don't have and that was because I didn't want to switch from Verizon to AT&T. So, I know part of it for DH is he just wants it. ;)
I know there will be a new iPhone in April, but if you get the iPhone from Verizon now when it comes out in Feb then you will get data for $30 and it is unlimited. Also, for those who already have a Droid with Verizon and want the iPhone, ask for an upgrade. A lot of times they will do it for free, or a small fee. You could always sell the phone you have now to pay for the new phone. We have done that in the past and had great luck selling old phones on EBay.

For the poster who was talking about the new Droid Bionic, which is out already. Everything you said is great and true but look on a map and see where 4G works. Basically in big cities, not rural areas. DH works in Manhattan so it would be fine there, but not where we live. 4G works off different towers.

I don't know if it's been pointed out yet (I'm too lazy to read the whole thread :p ) but the new iPhone 4 for Verizon has enhanced antenna capability to combat the problems they've had with reception.
