I usually drive to Disney because back 20 years in my 20's I was diagnosis with benign positional vertigo... get dizzy because the crystals in my ears fall and cause the spinnies... happens not to often mostly sudden positional jerky movements that move the crystals in my ear... Question is does any one have a veritgo problem and take a dramamine and it works for the duration of the plane ride, mine being 2 and a half hour flight. Dramimine worked pretty good last year for the rides that were moderate, splash mountain, peter pan, haunted mansion,ect... I will talk to my doctor and get his take just wondering if this over the counter medicine worked for anyone with mild vertigo...Thankyou...

I don't have vertigo but I have suffered from motion sickness while flying, and still occasionally get a little naseous even after 1000+ flights. What I find works for me is turning on the air vent and having it blow on my face (it provides a physical sense of motion) and sipping on gingerale (the carbonation helps while there isn't as much sweet in it to upset my stomach).

Non-drowsy dramamine is a good option since you've used it before without side effects (the non-drowsy stuff puts a friend of mine to sleep while night time children's cold medicine is like a triple shot of espresso to our oldest DD).

Good luck!

:goodvibes I was diagnosed 2 years back with benign positional vertigo just recently the diagnosis was changed to Meneires Disease =) I know how you feel, I was prescribed Meclazine 25mg which is the same as Bonine except it doesnt make me drowsy! I purchased the chewable kind on Drugstore.com which is over the counter and those worked okay, I like the tablets better that are prescription only.

Do you find the prescription kind works better than the Bonine for the plane ride. May have to ask my Doc for a script... Haven't been on a plane for years so I wonder if the pressure in the cabin that makes your ears pop effects the vertigo at all.. Don't want to have sea legs hours after I get off the plane...

My father-in-law has Vertigo. He had not flown in 27 years because of it.

He went on vacation with us last year and did fine. He had a pair of sea-bands, Chewed on organic ginger candy... AND use a homeopathic (sp?) remedy that we got at a health food store. It is called "cocculus indicus" (The store had a chart and this was just for vertigo.) It was over the counter but recommended by my doc.

His doc said to stay well hydrated, eat normal meals and also benadryl helps dry up the ear canal and stabilize it so the vertigo might not flair up. (he didn't try that)

My father-in-law is looking forward to flying again in January for a month this time! Not sure just which thing worked for him but he was fine.

Have a great trip!
