Verifying transfer rules

Hello,

I will need to transfer in points for a November 2014 reservation that I plan to book this December. I have a friend with the same home resort and she only has September 2015 points available. From what I have been reading, it appears that I can't have her transfer points to me because they would be stuck in a September 2015 UY and I could not use them for a November 2014 reservation. Is that correct, that we cannot borrow points that are transferred in?

The other question is, how far in advance can someone transfer in points? I used to think that it could only happen a year in advance of the UY, but now I am just plain confused. In other words, if I wanted her September 2015 UY points, would I have to wait until September 2014?

Correct, you cannot borrow transferred points. So those Sept 2015 points could not be used for a Nov 2014 reservation.
