Hi - we are back home and trying to catch up. We enjoyed opening day at BCV very much. We stayed the prior week at OKW and moved for our last day to a one bedroom at BCV and we loved it! We had room 208 which overlooked the pool and was near the end near parking lot which actually made it very convenient to get to car. No walk down a long hallway or anything. The room was in tip top shape and it was exciting to stay in this new room. We took the plastic off the extra blanket, used toaster with that new smell experience, and were pleasantly surprized to see a WELCOME HOME in print on the TV screen each time the TV was turned on!
Now on to the verandas......we had one of those really nice long and spacious ones. It had four chairs and two small tables. Now the room directly above us had no veranda in bedroom and a small build out one directly above us. If someone was out there they would look down at us and privacy is a big issue. I think they tried to maximize the space for as many verandas as they could thus there are many configurations. I am sure we will be hearing about them. The design of the building is so beautiful too with these various types of verandas. The first floor ones enable you to walk right to the pool but many people were stomping through the beautiful landscaping as a shortcut:( Now I was intrigued by those HUGH verandas on the cornors that turn to make the arch of the building. I went up to five and walked for quite a while, (BWV memories) and found more elevators at these areas with windows in the hall. You can look directly out onto these hugh verandas. They are like triangles. Rails are put up in three triangle with the two with front points and a hugh waste of space in the middle making another triangle with the point pointing at building. It is hard to explain but the middle triangle of fence is as big as the two flanking them but only used as a buffer between them. One triangle serviced room 560 and then you had the little alcove to elevator, elevator and then next room was numbered 566. Each one of the three areas were hugh and each one separetly was much bigger than even OKW verandas so the look from below looks like a very big, special area but are really the two room verandas and middle buffer area. To put the convenient elevators in the long hallways cost a few rooms for sure.
The even numbers face the pool and even though we were looking at parking lot we could not see as the trees and landscaping as done so nicely. We go again in August and made that ressie on first day they accepted them and had requested Epcot view, 5th floor but I loved the pool view and would be happy there too. We are not usually in room at fireworks time anyways,
The expereince was nice but the only disappointment was no festivities for the first day. After we got home I learned here that at 9am they had a ribbon cutting but we arrived at 10am to long lines put pleasant CM's. We were thrilled to get in early and not be the one's without a place from 11am to 4pm when you do a room change. They were putting a folder in each room in the afternoon and I thought it would be a opening momento but it was the room service menu. We got little things delivered during the day, a missing remote, then housekeeping made a special trip to put in the plastic bag for the ice bucket etc, they must of had lists to complete.
The bathroom counters do not have much top space but the little shelves next to them are nice. The closets only hold clothes because if you put suitcases or shoes on the floor you cannot close the door of closet. Also the baths have no hooks on back of doors nor any towel rods in shower, the rod is in the toilet area??? I wonder it the parts are on back order.
I better stop, just know how I was hungry for detail and wanted to provide some. I'll answer questions as they come up too. Try this beautiful, most convenient DVC....S&B too, you will love it!!:)

You know us too well! Thanks for giving us some great insights. Must have been terrific to be "first in the room" :)

Thanks for the report. We spend alot of time on the Verandas. I hope I can talk DH to stay at BCV instead of OKW. It would be so nice to be able to walk to epcot, spend a few hours there, take monorail to MK or bus to animal kingdon, boat to mgm. Just 360 more days. Yea.

Was it this area by any chance, or am I way off? (Sorry if the pic is large.)

Thanks sooo much for the report. Like you, I too am hungry for any information!

"but many people were stomping through the beautiful landscaping as a shortcut"

That is one of my pet peeves regardless of where we're at. You'd hope that as "owners" of this resort we'd be more considerate of our property.

The above picture is not the area I am talking about. The picture I think, is off the entrance area where drawing room is and the exit to the pool area. That area goes up and from 2nd floor you look down to lobby. Our room was right in this area. The veranda I am talking about it the far cornor on the other end and much bigger than the above picture.

I prefer to "assume" that it wasn't the owners who were taking the shortcuts. If all the rooms were available for occupancy at opening, the large majority of them would have been rented by CRO as the percentage of DVC ownership is currently reported to be around 40%.

I've seen this phenomena at many resorts/hotels. I often wonder why the designers/planners don't just accept human nature and build a sidewalk around the first floor and arrange the landscaping so that the patios can be used as a "shortcut" to the pool or whatever. Perhaps it is a secutiry issue.
