Verandah Question

Have had the side extended veranda as well as an aft extended veranda. Not a big difference really between the space (sq footage). What is different is the privacy. Pretty much everyone on that side of the ship can see onto the verandas along the side on deck 5. The aft verandas have some privacy as most are partially covered by the deck above.

First time Disney cruisers and I am looking at the different verandah's. Just discovered the extended verandah. Which would you choose and why? Extended or regular verandah. Not interested in the navigators verandah.

Thank you

The links and pictures here are wonderful! One thing to keep in mind and/or consider with an extended verandah is that everyone above you can see right down on the extended part of your verandah. (You will still have part of your verandah covered for privacy) Some people don't mind this, yet others like to have full privacy :-) Cheers! (THANK YOU NCPAWPAW for clarifying the "visible" part.)

The thing that drew me to the extended Verandah was there appeared to be a lounge bed/chair. Not seeing those in pictures..... Do they have them?

I used to think that the first time I seen them from above, but you still get the same amount of privacy as a standard balcony it is just the extended part that isn't covered!

Yes! THANK YOU for adding that ... I have to realize that the OP has not been on DCL to know that the extended part is the "visible" part! I'll edit my post! Cheers!

The verandas on deck 5 are 5e. The down side is everyone looks down on you and there is no privacy. Also there is sea spray so the decks get wet. The ones in the rear that face the rear in my opinion are the best. They offer privacy and no sea spray. However you do get some ash from the smoke stack.

They were originally, but now they are in 4E category, classified as Family Verandah, despite not having extra space within the room or the split bath as the rest of Category 4.

The 4Es on the newer ships have the split bathrooms, just not the extra space in the cabin.

I prefer the extended. I don't mind the privacy issue at all, but some people are weirded out by it. Room 5052 on the Fantasy is my favorite.

SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!party: :rotfl2:

I think that's because only the Family Verandahs have the round tubs. The standard verandah has the rectangular tub. Handicapped rooms may not have a split bath, 4E should have a split bath but no round tub, just a rectangular tub.

Yes, you are right!
Deck 5 rooms are just regular verandah configuration, which include the same split bath found in all other deluxe rooms (inside, oceanview, verandah) - but lacks the larger "family" round tub which differentiates family categories 8 and 4.

Extended + they are at the back (aft) of the ship which, IMO, is the best view you can have.
