What is the difference between a Navigator's Veranda, and a Veranda ?

I never cruised before, I have no Idea what kind of room to ask for, I have 6 adults and 2 children in total...
2 Grandparents want the cheapest room possible, we would like the 2 kids with us and the other 2 grandparents nearby... any suggestions?

Thanks

A Navigator's verandah is the same size as a regular verandah but is not completely open. Below the railing is metal and instead of being completely open, there is a large open "porthole".

Most regualr verandahs have clear plexiglass below the rail and are completely open above it. There are some verandahs with metal below the rail and open above.

Hope that helps

If you want a verandah stateroom, and the grandparents want the cheapest room they can get. I'd suggest getting a category 6 room (with verandah), and booking the category 11 (inside) room right across the hall. Since the kids will be in your room, you won't be able to book a Navigator's verandah anyway, since they only have three berths.

Dave's site has good information about rooms, and links to pictures of the various verandah types:

You can get inside rooms which are directly across from the verandah rooms. They are not the cheapest possible, but a lot less. Cat. 7's are Navigator's and are a little less money than a Cat. 6. We loved our cat 6 and will get it again every time. Cat. 7's can be on decks other than Deck 6 as well.
