Vera Bradley

I didn't get a chance to read the whole thread so this may have been discussed previously. Im' a HUGE Vera fan, I have about 25 bags that I switch on & off with. HOWEVER - DO NOT take a Vera bag with a magnetic closure - it will de-magnatize your park tickets & room key every time! I found this out the hard way when I went 2 weeks ago - I had gotten a new Lizzy bag. The front pocket is a magnetic closure (no snap, it just clicks closed). Every single day my park tickets were de-magnatized, and my room key. Finally on the 4th day at Guest Services (after them telling me for days it must be my cell phone - yet no one else in my party had issues & they all had cell phones) - the person asked if I had any magnetic closures on my purse. He said the magnetic closures usually don't de-magnatize a credit card, but will do it to park tickets every time. ARGH!

So I went back to Disney last week & used a different Vera bag (regular hipster - great size for Disney) - and my tickets & room keys worked fine. I did a test - switched to my Lizzy bag for one evening - and yes, both the ticket & room key were de-magnatized. So that has to be the answer!

I used The Tote this trip the most - I had never done a shoulder bag in Disney before -always my Vera hipster, mini hipster (too small for me), Lizzy or backpack - and I really like The Tote. I was able to fit tons more in that than any other bag I've used there.

Which section did you keep your park tickets in? I put mine in the back "wallet" section and had no problems with park tickets or my room key. Used it for 6 of the 10 days I was there. I also kept my cell phone away from the tickets too...just in case.

I bring a gallon size ziploc bag in the purse and put it in that for water rides or if it were to start raining. I also bring small sandwich bag to put my cell phone in too in case of rain.

I kept mine in that back zipper wallet part too - inside a zip ID case...so maybe it was a combo of my cell (in the main purse compartment) and the magnetic closure on the front flap that did me in!

For the last couple of years, I have been taking the small backpack to Disney World. I used to bring a hipster, but at some point during the day, the strap would start bugging me if I carried it crossbody. I found I carried it over my shoulder most of the time and that is when I decided to try the backpack - so I could be hands free. It works out great and I love the organization - especially the outside pockets on the sides - great for sunglasses and hand sanitizer. I just bought one this past weekend in very berry paisley to add to my collection and bring on my trip this week.

I bought the Lizzie as its a perfect size for my stuff, and my body. I'm very short and small and it doesn't look huge on me. Is there anyway to demagnetize the magnet??? I really want to use this bag, but don't want that headache of ruining my park tickets/room key! Any ideas?

I have a WDW rainjacket and I just tuck my Vera Mini Hipster under the jacket and on the water rides, I put it in the compartments in the ride cars and they have stayed dry. I didn't realize that the Baggellini is waterproof. I may need to reconsider one of those.

I wouldn't want to say it's waterproof, but it's definately water resistant. From time to time they have codes for $10 off at shoebuy.com or bagbuy for the baggellini.

On Sunday I used my Vera tote in the park, and it was the first time I used a shoulder bag. I definately prefer the hipster or mini-hipster to the tote. Often I needed my hands/arms free and the tote wanted to fall down. (Like when I was carrying a tray full of food and drinks to a table. Had a heck of a time keeping the tote on my shoulder.)

I have a bagallini too, but the shoulder strap is too wide all day for me

fyi, i always spray scotch guard on my vera bags, seems to help them stay clean too.:)

Wow thank you for posting this! I think you just saved many of us some aggravation. I wonder if I put the park tickets and room key in the zip pocket that lies against the body, if that's far enough away from the magnet for this to not be a problem?

It might be ok since someone else posted that they had no issues with tickets & room keys when using the back zip pocket of the Lizzie bag. I guess I just had bad luck (or my magnet for some reason is really strong LOL!!)

The magnet on my messenger bag did the same thing, if I kept the keys and passes in the front zip pocket. Once I began to put them on the inside it was fine.

I didn't have that problem, and I used it the whole time with a KTTW key (room key) a hard plastic ticket, and a paper ticket for our last day. :confused3

That's what I did, and I was fine. One of the best "park bags" I've ever used. :woohoo:

I've seen the pictures of the Lizzy that are on websites to sell them, but does anyone have any pictures of someone wearing it? Also, does someone have pictures of the backside wallet compartment? This bag sounds great!

The Lizzie in action LOL!!!

Thanks for the pictures! Looks to be the ideal size. I read yesterday that someone adjusted the strap so they could wear the bag as a fanny pack. That would be good for when the shoulders get tired.

I will go take a picture in a bit! ;)

It was great for that. I just slipped it over my head, down to my waist then cinched up the strap to fit my (not skinny) waist.

I had the same problem with my Bagallini.......which is why I am looking for a new park bag too. It did not matter how far away from the magnet I put them.

Dumb question from a girl who usually wears a dorky fanny pack. Is the mini hipster like carrying a purse? I really need to be hands free and not worry about a purse.

I was looking at an All-in-one wristlet the other day, which I thought might be great, but even that is smaller than my fanny pack. Does anyone else use the wristlet? I loved the idea above about putting on a belt.

Thanks,
Deb

No, the mini hipster you wear cross body... it's like a big wallet on a strap. it's totally hands free and VERY comfortable to wear. I have to tell you, I was truly so skeptical. But I bought one and I'll never go back now. it's all I used our whole week. I got the small Vera wallet and a Kodak camera in the mini hipster.

The all-in-one wristlet is really super small. it's a phone / credit cards thing only.

I never thought of that - what a good idea to make it into a fanny pack! The strap is REALLY long but very adjustable. I tend to wear mine across my body and low...but you could adjust the strap very short if you wanted it to be a shoulder bag.

The size was good for my ladies trip - but too small for when the kids are with me. My camera uses 4 AA size batteries so it's pretty bulky - that takes up a lot of the room inside.
