For those of you that have either of these bags, I'd love some advice please.

I'm debating on purchasing either the Vera Bradley Hipster (regular, not mini), or a Baggallini Messenger bag. However, I'm wondering which one would hold my stuff better.

This is what I plan to carry in the parks:
Camera (medium sized, a bit clunky)
Disposable poncho
Sunglasses
Small wallet
2 or 3 pads/tampons
Water bottle
Cell phone
Hand sanitizer (small)
Kleenex (small pack)
Small comb
Altoids tin - containing pills, chapstick, eye drops for contact lenses, bandaids, a few cut pieces of moleskin.

Is that too much stuff to comfortably fit in the VB Hipster? Or would I be better off with the Baggallini messenger? Is the Baggallini messenger "floppy", or does it hold it's shape?

Thanks for the advice. :)

Hi there!
I just got back from DLR and used my hipster. I carried:
water bottle
tech case (had my ipod touch in it)
small wallet
hair brush
cell phone
small mirror
chap stick
tube container of advil
pen
small camera
coupons/vouchers (back pocket)
packable tote bag (they have 'em at WDW, you'll see what I mean)
Sunglasses, sometimes. Most of the time they were on my head.

and a few pins when I bought them. It wasn't even full with all of that in it! I put the water bottle on the bottom sideways. I did so because I knew I wouldn't want it for awhile and that way, it was sort of insulated and stayed cold longer.

I think with what you have, yours may be a bit fuller, but you could probably still get away with it. I like that it's already across you and you don't have to take anything off your back to get to it.

I haven't ever had a baggalini so I can't help you on that one, but I wanted to let you know about my recent experience with the hipster. ;) Have a great trip!

I was actually wondering the same thing! Me and DBF are going to Disney in December (first time for both of us!). I already have the Vera Bradley hipster (old regular style) but have been thinking that it wouldn't be big enough to carry my stuff as well as his. I also thought that if I got a Baggallini, he may carry it as opposed to my bright pink hipster. =)

I'm still undecided as of now. However, I would like to hear your opinions on the topic.

Thanks
-Jeanna

I tried my Vera Bradley hipster on our last trip this past May. I have been a fanny pack girl for years but I thought I would give the hipster a try. I liked the way you can carry the bag across your body to leave your hands free. I carried a glasses case, mini wallet, lip balm, travel pack tissues, cell phone, wet wipe packets, compact, small bottle of Tylenol, ink pen, pack of gum, cash.

I also purchased the mini hipster. I decided that bag was too small for all my stuff. I did, however, take it along last weekend when we took our granddaughters to the pumpkin patch. Didn't need much so it worked perfectly. I will be going to a arts & crafts show this weekend and I plan to take one or the other bag with me so I can shop easily.

I carried my hipster (old style) last week in WDW....

I had a camera, small wallet, tylenol, water bottle, park maps, a few pins, our souvenier $$ envelopes, sunglasses.

I think I had a few other things in there, as well.

The thing that I loved about this bag, is that I didn't have to take it off to use the restroom - made bathroom breaks much shorter.

;)

LOL

:) Have 2 mini hipsters and I am pooh sized so I like the length of the strap on the VB. I have purchased a Hipster as a gift and I think it would be a great bag for you. Plus you can wash it if needed. I have to let you guys know that I went to the National Vera Bradley Outlet Sale in Fort Wayne last month. I live in MS, so it was the trip of a lifetime for an addict like me. Anyway, I told 2 different VP's of Purchasing that we wanted 2-3 bags with a hidden Mickey type pattern. I told them that they didn't realize the following that their bags had here and gave them the DIS website to check out the thread. Of course he said there were Licensing issues--know that--but they should still check into it. You can usually find good prices on EBags in the retired styles and patterns and now they are selling them on QVC. Now if I could just get a Mickey fabric.........:cloud9: Hey a girl can dream right?

The hipster. I used the Nine West hipster this past summer, it's my new Disney Bag. It was so much more comfortable than the Baggallini Messenger. I love the amount of stuff the Baggallini can carry, I just like to be able to rotate the position of the strap over the course of the day. I do have the Baggallini large wallet bag, and that worked good for short jaunts into the park. It pretty much fit in everything but the poncho.

I have the hipster and used it in April for our trip. I LOVED this bag and want a new one!!! Mine is pink elephants (not that it matters)

heres what I packed into it:

Diapers
Wipes
Sunscreen stick
Cell Phone
Wallet
Park addmission for 5 poeple
Camera
Disposable Bibs
Chapstick

Thats what I carried everyday with no problems then at added times there were extras such as water or napkins pens and autograph books whcih did make it tight but for the everyday stuff this bag was awesome.

good luck.

I also used the hipster last year, and loved it taking it with me this year again. I also have an LLBean over the shoulder bag (Kinda bean shaped) I love that too just think after awhile it bugs your shoulder. I sometimes also take a bag and get a locker you know with sweatshirts and stuff in it

Hello everyone! One the budget board a couple of days ago there as a post for Vera Bradley bags. They have a clearance on the hipster as well as others...the hipster is $20 and the mini $15...some are even $5.

Go to the vera bradley web siteand on the top click the drop down that lists gifts for various prices...$10-$30. I went to a store near me today to check prices, not the same in stores...I got a hipster, black with pink elephants.... I normally use a coach sling but the hipster i much bigger ZI sm going to use on trip in June.....Good Luck!:yay:

In the past I've carried a medium Ameribag "Healthy Back Bag" which is great for carrying on one shoulder and fits all the necessities plus extra room for a rain jacket, hat, or even a book. http://www.ebags.com/ameribag/healthy_back_bag_reg_micro_fiber_medium/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=3196 I've seen people carry these cross-body but do not find it comfortable to carry that way.

The bag isn't terribly stylish but I've found it very practical. You can unzip it open all the way for security checks.

However, I've had mine so long that the rubber grip on the strap is torn and I'm debating whether to get another one or try something different like the baggallini messenger. For petite folks, does anyone know if you can adjust the strap so it's relatively tight against your back as opposed to dangling behind? Is it easy to take on or off?

Sorry if this is off-topic but I figured it was related.

I am sorry, I don't know anything about the baggalini bags - I've never used one.

I do know that the straps on the hipster (not the mini) can be adjusted for shorter people. Lots of photos of the mini, regular hipster and retired hipster can be found here: http://verabradleyresources.proboards.com/index.cgi

HTH! :)

OK, here's my 2 cents! I have both. Several Vera Hipsters, one mini hipster and a lime green baggalini messenger.
The baggalini carries more but may not be as convenient to carry. I keep it in our owners locker because it's great for days when I want to take ponchos.
Normally I carry the hipster. I can fit a small umbrella in it plus the other essentials, but no way on the ponchos.
The mini hipster doesn't carry much at all...

I like the idea of the hipster, but want something I can cram my floppy hat into once the sun goes down, a light wrap sweater, and maybe even my packable rain jacket (it packs relatively small but is still going to be like 4 inches wide.

I may just end up sticking with my Healthy Back Bag, which fits all this stuff well, and seeing if I can glue the rubber grip so it will hold, but I'm considering getting this:

Baggallini Around Town Bag

It looks like sort of a "happy medium" between the hipster size and the messenger. One of the benefits of the hipster style is that it's slim and close to the body, and this one at 4" wide would stick out a bit more. But the bag itself is lightweight so when I'm not squashing lots of stuff into it, maybe it will lay a bit flatter. I probably shouldn't be such a pack rat, but I like to be prepared!

I just got the Baggallini New Yorker bag, and I'm sooooo happy with it...I think it will be the perfect park bag. It still lies flat against the body like the Vera Bradley Hipster (which I also have), but it holds significantly more, without being bulky like the Messenger bag. It easily holds my camera (a superzoom, not as big as an SLR but much bigger than a point-and-shoot), a paperback, a small umbrella, a light sweater (admittedly, all scrunched up), and all the typical purse detritus (lipstick, pen, keys, etc.). It has a ton of pockets, is super-light and comfortable, and the strap can be adjusted to either go cross-body or over one shoulder.

Seriously, I'm in love with this bag! :lovestruc

That looks like a nice bag too! It should stay closer to the body than the one I ordered, which is 4 inches wide. I hadn't seen that one and almost wish I had ordered it instead!

I think I need the extra space, though. It's not that I carry lots of heavy stuff, but I do like being able to cram in a hat or light sweater if I don't want to wear it anymore.

As a Vera Bradley Addict I vote Hipster! I have 3 and have used them at many theme parks and day trips! They Hold a lot but also insulate those bottles of water and since they are quilted they lay against you very comfortably!! I am only carrying a Vera Bradley 4 in 1 wristlet in Blue Rhapsody when i go on tuesday since i dont need much !
