We're looking at getting one for our new addition.

Any advice?

My main question is this... When you buy the fireplace, you basically just get the insert, right? Everything else is an option?

For example, I see a lot of them displayed online with beautiful brick work surrounding it. Is that for sale, too?

I want it to look like this: http://www.heatnglo.com/

But I don't even know where to begin. How much of that display is available as a package, I wonder?

I'm completely clueless at this point. Thanks for any advice.

I have a Heat 'n Glo insert -- you basically get just the box, the logs, the doors and a top and bottom panel. Even the remote control is extra. So, all of the brickwork you see and the hearth would be extra.

That said, I wouldn't trade it for anything !! We used it a lot last winter and it heated our family room (18 x 21 ft.) and kitchen without any problems. Just so nice to point the remote control, click the button and "pouf" you have a fire!

thats funny - we're actually going to look at some today! The last time we spoke to a sales person, the stone work / mantel ets was all separate.

We purchased one of these last winter. It is the best thing we have ever done. My only advice is to purchase the extra blower kit so that you will be able to push the heat farther into your home. We are able to heat a 16 x 26 room, plus the kitchen. The unit we have is a Napoleon brand, which cranks out 30,000 BTU's. It can really get hot in there!

Good luck with your purchase.
