What really ticks me off is on some trade topics, where there are a certain number of one type of item, such as a green backwards cap or something, and most people are offering for all of the hats. They only really need one, if they wanted another for trade they should have gotten one when they were available or at least trade from another person. Because every time I go onto a trade topic looking for a red baseball hat, there are usually several for trade. But by the time I post there are people who have an offer for all of them.

I will have to disagree with you here. Someone can trade for say, three hats; what if they were offering for them just so they could gift them? Is that really a problem? Who knows, maybe you'll be gifted one! ;)

I missed the red shirt bc of a power outage and storm and someone gifted me 1

We missed the red hat, and no one is gifting OR trading. It seems as if you don't have a sob story, preferably involving a little kid, you won't get it as a RAOK; and if you don't have lots of rare items to trade for it, you won't have a bid accepted.

I had a bad feeling that the hat was going to turn into one of those "give the farm away for it" items, which is why I tried to get extras for others in exchange for 1 or 2 no longer sold items. I thought that was fair enough in exchange for my time. Unfortunately, my computer and Haunted Mansion do not get along well and sometimes even 25 ghosts is a challenge. So all I wound up with was a hat for myself and my mom (sorry Shaymojack, I really tried; finished the last game at 12:53 am and was 4 ghosts short! :sad2: ).

I think what's happening now is a complicated issue. A lot of people could only get one for themselves or enough for their family. Those who do have extras... I think they see, especially on the fan site, just how much people are willing to offer for just one of the hats, and rather than being kind and donating one or doing a cheap trade, they get dollar signs in their eyes, so to speak.

All I know is if I ever get an extra in a trade, it'll have to go to a gal, young or old. I feel for all the boys who couldn't get it, but at least they could buy the blue hat. Girls only had one shot at it, which is wrong, wrong, wrong. :sad2: But that's another argument entirely.

I agree. The situation rubs salt in the wound by making the cap color very attractive to us "gals," which makes it all the sadder that I can't get one :(
If it were bright red I would not care for it.

I really wish VMK would just make some of this one day only quest stuff buyable. I didn't have time to spend hours on the computer this holiday weekend trying to get virtual clothes or items. It would be nice to have the chance to get it for 'free' by doing the quest and then make it a special (expensive, if they must) in the stores, so we at least have a chance to get this item. What is with VMK and making items 'rare'. I really don't get it!

While the - I have something everyone wants and I am going to be greedy - head is being seen a lot with the red hat, I have to say that I know of someone who successfully got many hats by questing.

S/he did not get them to do major trade deals, but rather to gift them to people that did not manage to get one due to struggling with those blasted ghosts. While I was lucky enough to get my hat after more than ten games with those dang ghosts, I makes me so happy to help him/her connect with such a person who did not get a hat. AND s/he does not want to just get the hat to these people, but truly wants to enjoy their excitement from getting that "missed" item.

Some people really do have the right idea - and heart - when it comes to this game. And I don't know about you, but they are the ones I would chose to be with if the boat was sinking and we were all on life boats.

And don't ask - this person will remain nameless for his/her own protection (call it the Friends Witness Protection Program :rotfl: ).

Happy to know the nice ones,
