Well, an airline is an airline. Frontier came out middlin'. Took off on time and the staff from Denver was nice. Both flights were full in and out of Orlando. Liked the extra leg room. Liked that they let us board early. But the snack was just O.K. But better than United, at least it was free. We brought our own food from the airport flying out, not realizing they even supplied food. But for a long flight, do bring some extra if you or kids are hungry.
However, the staffing in Orlando leaves something to be desired. There was no sky-cap and no curb side check-in and DH had dropped the kids and I curbside to return the rental car, so this is an EXTREME hassle. We always pull up curbside and check us all in. I had to drag two little kids and two huge bags and three carry-ons into the terminal, spewing stuffed Disney dinosaurs and Stitches, and could not make the curves of the line, knocked over a couple of the guide bars and the idiot at the counter just watched me. There was no one else there. Then he started giving me a hard time about the luggage being over-weight. Huh? Four passengers and 112 pounds? He said each passenger was limited to fifty since May and ONE of our two suitcases was too heavy. (We do the same on other lines, and the largest case is usually just marked "heavy", no one has ever threatened me about it before). So I guess I was supposed to be dragging FOUR suitcases, not just two. Well, duh, he oughta see our biggest suitcase, the one that United marks as heavy. I told him if that was the rule, they kinda need to let people KNOW. He finally backed down and said since we had booked in February, he would let us on. Then he finally got all nicey-nice and helped me carry the stuff to TSA. One idiot can sour your feelings about a company. Then, before my DH even knew about our problems, the same guy gave him a lot of grief about trying to find if the four of us were seated together when he checked in, he seemed to have few problems with the fact we have different last names. Well, duh again, bet THAT is unusual, people with different last names travelling together.
Anyway, a thunderstorm kept the ground crew from finishing servicing the plane, so we sat in the plane at Orlando for half an hour, then thunderstorms re-routed our approach and we were an hour late arriving. But at least Frontier keeps the air conditioning on when you are on the ground, something United avoids. Thought it was funny because the reason given for the original early morning flight cancellation was so they can make connections in Denver. You should have seen the mess at Frontier in Denver from all the people waiting for thunderstorm-delayed connections. There is something to be said for being on an airline with more flights, cannot imagine how much ire folks must vent on Frontier when ALL the flights are not delayed. But then maybe they delay everything due to one late large feeder flight. Not a pretty thought, eh?
Hey Denverites, our next trip is on American, cheaper as Josette pointed out. Sadly, connecting, though. We'll see who wins the Denver to Orlando duke-em-out.
Hey Josette, check out the Disney bargains at the Castle Rock Outlet store until August 3rd (or was it the 8th?). They open just for a month or two a couple times a year. Usually leftover California stuff, last time it was mostly DCA things, but some of it is a steal.
