VENT: Why Does This ALWAYS Happen to Me???

So when I go to the movie theater, it's either by myself or with one other person. I will arrive early so that I can get the spot I love the most, in the center in the row where I can put my feet up on a bar (I know this isn't at every theater, but it is at mine). Anyway, that isn't the point...

I also try to go at off times like at 3PM on a Monday or 10:30PM on a Tuesday, for example.

Essentially, what I'm trying to accomplish is a comfortable and QUIET viewing for myself. But no matter what I do, the big group of 4 or more people ALWAYS seem to sit right behind me. They never shut up, they kick and push the back of my seat, they scream or laugh excessively loud, they get up and go outside the theater and bump my seat on the way out, other people have to shush them, at least one of them forgets or just doesn't turn his/her phone off and they go into a full on discussion about every preview.

This has happened to me during the last 5 movies I have seen! THE LAST 5! And sure, I could get up and move but I want that seat. I just wish I could not be loud annoying family/group magnent... that would be really nice.

This happened to me today during the 4PM showing of New Moon. And I'm going to go see either The Blind Side or 2012 on Thursday so I'm crossing my fingers that I don't get to number 6.

Thanks all for letting me vent. I think I'm good now :)

That's my favorite row too. :)

I once sat there and there was a couple behind me and the woman started having a cow that I sat in front of her. This was a popular movie and I knew the theater would be full, not to mention it was stadium style. Her husband told her to can it. But I moved far away from her anyway because I just knew she would be one of those people to talk through the whole movie and be annoying. When I was moving everyone was saying how rude the woman was. lol. And yes the theater was packed by the time the movie started.

That happens to us. I want to yell the theatre is empty and you have to sit right in front of us

I never ever ever have that happen. Why? Because my spot is the last row at the top.

Sit there and never worry again.;)

Happens to me all the time. Went by myself yesterday to the early showing or New Moon and was surprised at how many people were there....but the theatre was by no means full or even half full. I just KNEW someone was going to come in and seatright in front of/behind/next to me, but I was thrilled when nobody did! Turns out DH is actually the moron magnet, not me!

On a related note, the lady in the row behind me and several seats down DID have two phone conversations. One was incoming complete with obnoxious ringtone and one was outgoing. Both calls were not of the "Can't talk now...at a movie...will call you later." They were full on Hey how you doin conversations.

I gave her the look of death both times.

We have a really nice TV and just wait for the DVD. People are too rude for movies out to be fun now.

DH and I were on a streak there for a while - 4 movies in a row where a family seated behind us was stupid enough to get their small child an x-large soda that got dropped near the beginning of the movie.

My new "favorite" is teens taking pictures during a movie. I mean, really....How many prune face pictures (You know, lips puckered, head cocked to the side) does one person need? It seems like there's always at least a few flashes that go off during every movie. Then I'm blinded for 15 minutes.

My favorite spot is in the center, but in the top row. I like to center myself just under the projector window (yes, there is a bit of Rain Man in me). The problem I have with that seat is that I can see every cell phone screen in the theater - you know the glowing screens that shine in your face while the "inconsiderates" are texting.

I like sitting in the center in the very back row. That way, I know no will will be talking behind me or kicking my seat. The downside is that from the back row you can see a bunch of phones from everyone texting during the movie. It's distracting. (It's also beyond me why people pay $8 and up to see a movie and they spend the whole time texting instead of watching the movie.) Another downside is that every movie has late-comers and it's distracting to see their groups coming in and getting settled.

The older I get (and I'm not that old yet :lmao:), the more going to the movies bugs me. For most movies, I'm waiting until they come on dvd so I can watch the films in the comfort of my home with my own (cheap!) popcorn.

Funny movie story........We were at Epcot in August and had a noon ADR at Chefs. We decided to see the first movie of the day in France and then shop a little bit before our ADR.

Very few people are in France right at noon. There were maybe 20-30 people total waiting to see the movie. We got into the theatre and picked a row toward the middle. This theatre is big and it was certainly big enough for those 20-30 people to spread out. A woman picked the row in front of us and in that entire empty row had to sit smack in front of our short dd!
:confused3
Dh and I looked at each other and :rotfl:, then we all moved down 4 seats so no one was in front of us.

I hear ya! When we went to see Zombieland, there was a young man sitting behind our group of 6, that was carrying on a conversation with himself about what a funny movie it is, and gave himself verbal instant replays of some of the action scenes! And the theater was so full we couldn't move, so yeah, I had to be the meanie and actually turn around and ask him to please keep it down. Twice. :rolleyes1

Uggh, it does seem to happen all the time! I only go to movies on 'off' times to try to avoid this. I have been known to walk into a movie theater that is almost completely empty and go sit in front of the only other people in there and then say 'just kidding" and move. Not really but I always want to b/c I think it would be funny:lmao:

this happened to me just yesterday at PLanet 51. A few adolescent boys sat behind up (plenty of seats in the theater) and read every word on the screen, or said lines from the movie over and over and their mom just sat there with her popcorn like she didnt know they were disturbing everyone within a 3 row radius! (even though DD and I kept turning around, LOL!)
