Hi guys - just returned a 2 weeks ago. I was reading the other post about what to do when it rains and remembered something. One day, while at MK, our ds fell asleep as soon as we got to MK. Other than eat or shop, we soon found out there is not much to do with a sleeping baby in a stroller. There aren't any rides/shows that allowed us to take the stroller. It wasn't that big of a deal, because he only slept about an hour, we just walked around and tried to stay out of people's way. Just keep that in mind if there are only two adults and sleeping baby! :)

Yes, so this is when dh or I would sneak off and ride a mountain!! A few years later when our 2nd dd was sleeping in the stroller it was time for 1-1 time with our oldest.

This happened to me every trip, but now my son is a little older and stays awake. But it always happened without fail. But I never had any problems finding things to do. In fact I just had to say c'est la vie when my son slept through breakfast at the castle - oh how I wished he knew how painful it was to get those reservations simply to have him sleep through the whole thing.

We found that there was certainly a lot of stuff to do, like go to Belle's story time, go over to Toon Town and wait for the rope drop or sit and wait for the train, or just walk to on end of the park to the other, and our favorite: go to the Rose garden and watch the ducks in hte shade of the pergola - and best of all, sit and have a dole whip without your child begging it off of you. OH YEAH!!!!!!!

Anyways, this all goes to show, that with wee ones in tow, one needs to be very flexible.

wait for the train

we were told we could not take the stroller on the train ... we did try that. castle was closed as it time for Cinderellabration. I am not complaining ... just something for people to keep in mind. Good heavens, we were at mk ... things could be alot worse. Just wanted to give a heads up that we didn't find any rides (IASW or Philharmagic, etc) that would let stroller on.

That is usually what we end up doing!

Hmmm - do you mean with baby still in it? If you have your own stroller you can take it on the train, folded up (which of course defeats the purpose of not disturbing a sleeping baby).

You're right though - it's really a minor inconvenience. I'd rather be walking around MK with a napping baby in a stroller than at work any day of the week! :)

I agree with you! We just got back and my 9 month old would usually fall asleep soon after. It's a good time to people watch, and it forces you not to be running around so crazy. (Although I did all the running around with my 7 year old, while DH chilled with the baby.) Next time, I want to enjoy the sites! :earboy2:

I didn't mean to sound disagreeable - I agree totally!

FWIW, we loved Epcot, espeically World Showcase for this reason, its GREAT with a sleeping baby. When the girls were little we had the pleasure of staying at the Boardwalk. In the evening we would dress them in pj's get them settled and walk to Epcot. 99% of the time they were asleep by the time we entered the turnstyles.

This gave dh and I the "night alone" without leaving the girls behind. We would stroll the WS taking in the countries, live shows and music while the girls slept happily.

:teeth: :teeth: yes ... lol, sorry...you can take stroller if it is folded up!

When our DD fell asleep, we would do baby swap at one of the mountains or, most of the time we just took her out of her stroller and took her on the rides asleep. She never woke up!!! Of course we would go back and repeat the rides again later because I didn't want her to miss anything. Not that she cared when she was 11 months old LOL :) . Now that she is 3 and weighs 41 pounds, we just shop or do baby swap.

I can't wait for DS to fall asleep at the parks. That's when DH and I can take turns riding the good rides! Space Mt, Splash Mt, RnRc, etc.

I have to agree that is baby swap time for us. We love it. One gets to ride with the other children while one waits with sleeping baby and then the other gets to ride with the children(who ride 2 times!!) We also have the funniest photos of DS on his first character meal totally asleep in the stroller in every photo. Still cute though.

Oh, please forgive me, but that's funny....during our first trip with our extremely active two year old...when he finally fell asleep in his stroller....dh and I were sooooo relieved. We had one of the most long blissful relaxed lunches ever, (and we were able to leave the catsup and the salt exactly where they were, LOL.) We had a great conversation while admiring him sleep looking so sweet and peaceful... one of my favorite memories. Maybe you have to be in the terrible two stage to see the humor, but you do have a point...save your eating and shopping for when they fall asleep.

And we were so relieved to spend an hour having an uninterrupted coffee.......! ;-)

We had that trouble too, but sometimes we'd just take her out of the stroller and carry her onto a ride/show asleep. She rarely woke up. She fell asleep as soon as we got to Epcot on our 2nd day of our trip last month and we couldn't do any of the big rides as the waits were too long and this was midday so no FPs available for hours so we just sat in Innoventions. We walked around and looked at the exhibits awhile, then just sat on a bench. She slept over 2 hours that day, and while it was sorta wasted time for us, it was nice to get a break from the heat and activity.

The other strategy, which we can't do much longer, was when I knew she'd be napping soon I'd put her in the Baby Bjorn and then it didn't matter if she was asleep or awake cause she could come wherever we went. She was almost 14 months, 20 lbs. and 30 inches on our last trip (last month) so she was getting to a point where it's not so easy to carry her all day like that, but just for naps it was no problem. Other than that, we'd plan to ride the baby swap rides then, which generally worked out well for us, especially cause it was tough for me to ride things cause sometimes Madison wouldn't want to stay with Daddy!

If it were me, Id send my husband and others off to do a ride. Also, depending on the size of the baby, Id be getting out my sling at the first sign of a nap coming on, and pop the baby in it. Then I can take her on some of the tamer attractions or do a baby swap without having to wake her up.

Absolutely Alison! I LOVED my sling. Our trip with one baby (not to be confused with our trip with a toddler and a baby :sad2: ) was one of our favorite trips to Disney. Our dd was 12 months and we could sling her on tons of rides. Oh, happy memories  .

DS went when he was 7 months old and didn't sleep much. But he would fall asleep anywhere :)

We are going again next week and I keep hoping he will fall asleep so we (dh and I) can use baby swap and go on the good rides :cheer2:

Oh those times when DS falls asleep in the stroller are BLISS!!! DH and I usually shop, without the "I wants". I love the lunch described with the ketchup and salt staying put...I hear you!!!

On out last trip, after a slightly trying dinner with DS at 'Ohana, the table next to us had a baby asleep in a stroller and a 5 (?) year old curled up on two chairs pushed together...I asked the mom how she did it and she and her husband looked surprised that they were so "lucky". They also looked very, very happy ;).

Our number one tip for getting an infant to sleep in the MK...go on the Haunted Mansion. I don't know if it was a defense mechanism or what, but all my kids alway fell asleep during this ride! :rotfl:
