Ted supporters beware!

In case you are not aware, Ted has now called Iraq "Bush's Vietnam." Let's see there were approximately 55,000 Americans killed in Vietnam, that's about 54,400 more than in Iraq! And who sent us to that horrible conflict in Vietnam? None other than Kennedy's brother!

And oh yeah since when does Kennedy care so much about our fallen soldiers. If he were a soldier and he were driving a tank, he'd probably wreck into water, his comrade drown, and he wouldn't even notify anyone or ask for help until the next day!

What a jerk, what an idiot, words can't describe this man!

The guy who started this uncalled for war.....

where are those weapons of mass destruction anyhow? seems to me we invaded a country on false pretenses. seems to me there are some serious issues of trust. and do we have a realistic exit strategy? we're about to become even more hated in the Middle East than we were.

and you complain about Kennedy?

Ted is a strong supporter of John Kerry....of course he's going to bash Bush!:duck:

I never said this war was uncalled for. It saved current and future generations from living under the brutal regime of Saddam and his butcher disciples. But how can someone say this war is uncalled for and compare it to Vietnam, a war his own brother got us into.

Kennedy HATES Republicans, he has shown nothing but the meanest spirit of any politician in recent years. I don't support John Kerry, but I believe he is still someone who respects others and does not spew hate speech. Ted Kennedy on the other hand, encites a violent attitude toward the conservative half of America. He is what is wrong with our country, I am ashamed he is a United States Senator.

Chappaquiddick. Chappaquiddick. Yeah, he values others and cares about the lives of his fellow Americans.

Gotta go with chad and Briar Rose here. How many young Marines and soldiers died TODAY? And for what? To protect us from those WMD's? Right! And how many more will die for Iraqi "freedom"?

I don't necessarily think it's Bush's Vietnam, not his alone. Cheney's and Rumsfeld's too!

another interesting point -- even the Presidnet acknowleges that Saddam and Al Qaida weren't linked, yet "everyone knows" we invaded iraq as part of the war on terror. how did that happen?

and Joe, your complaint about numbers isn't valid. we've only been in Iraq ifor a year. let's not forget how long the Vietnam War lasted. troops were first sent when, in 63? and Nixon escalated the war to include Laos and Cambodia. and we didn't pull out until, what was it, 75?

I guarantee we won't have thousands die for 12 more years, give me a break. And WMDs or not, we have to be proactive in the war on terror. The Saddam regime could have very likely hooked up with OBL in the future, we cannot sit around and allow that to happen. Another 9/11 will kills thousands, and destroy our economy that is now back on track.

I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that it will hit multiple thousands before we get out of there.

"could have" is not enough evidence to support a war in Iraq.

I'm sure it will get to the thousands by the time it's over, but not near 50,000 and it won't continue for 12 more years, that's what I was saying.

And I think could have is strong enough evidence in the post 9/11 world. Could have and supporters of could haves must be dealt with immediately. We must be proactive, we have to do whatever possible to prevent 9/11s and to erode terrorism.

So if they aren't linked, then why did Al Qaida bomb (the subway) in Spain in retaliation for the war in Iraq? I'd say it's proof positive that they ARE LINKED.

I agree with the OP... Kennedy is a disgrace as a Senator and has some nerve.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am not willing to sit back and wait for something else to happen here..then listen to all the crybabies say..."if we knew about this why didn't we stop it" like they are doing now. I could just see the uproar if we have tried to be pro-active and stopped OBL after his first attack on the Towers.

Kennedy has been a disgrace for years. Why he keeps etting voted in is beyond me.

Yep, this one is headed for the debate board.....

But, I do agree with the OP for the most part. Putting the Bush/Kerry debate aside for a moment, if you just consider the things Senator Kennedy has said, he is full of hate speech and does not respect the views of others. He has said things that are completely inappropriate, yet no one questions him on it. Now that deserves a line of 's.

Does anyone remember when, for about ten minutes on 9/11/01, we were all Americans, not Republicans or Democrats. All this partisan BS from both sides is making me sick. I'd love to see one day here on the DIS where the two sides don't bash each other. Just one freakin' day! Is that too much to ask?

You might want to take a look at this site:
http://www.english.uiuc.edu/maps/vietnam/timeline.htm

As you can see we first became involved with Vietnam during the Eisenhower administration (R - 1953-1961).

Old Teddy is pathetic. The difference between Viet Nam and Iraq should be clear to anyone. We never captured Ho Chi Min. Uday and Quosay and dead and Saddam is in prison. We also have a president who is willing and able to allow the Pentagon and the commanders execute the war. Johnson micromanaged every battle and every encounter from the White House and it was clear that his goal wasn't to win.
