Vent - I'm so disappointed with my school system.

UGH!
Freaking school is run by idiots I tell you! They can freaking hire security for Relay for Life at the football field (which is a small event this year), but not for a memorial at the football field for someone who was known and loved by everyone. (She was a cheerleader for cripe's sake!)

Is your school's football field allowed to be used for anything outside of football?

We usually have the Relay for Life at the field,
but this year it was on our main street.

The only other thing I can think of that's done at the football field,
(aside from games)

is Christmas Events, its the night of the Christmas Parade..
Everyone walks to the field and they have a bonfire behind it,
food, drinks, games, ect. Then everyone goes to the bleachers for fireworks.

We've never had a memorial service at the field,
although that sounds like a very good idea.

Every event that the town has, there are security everywhere.
Its a small town.. but it's crime is pretty bad.
We have some nuts here

We don't have a football field, there's a field that every school usually plays on (we have a practice field near the school, it's used for anything that's outdoors).
Most things on the practice field are organized by the school, and don't really require security?

When a fellow student had died this year at my school, there were just 2 long white tables that people signed and put their final words on it. And we also had a momment of silence

Most schools are on a tight schedule and the BOD can't take time out of the school day to hold a memorial at a football field.
But they should've had some type of memorial set up.

Football field is used for graduation and we had flight for life do a demostration for my school this year...

Oh no not during school! It was going to be after school on a Friday evening or possibly even Saturday afternoon.
I just think that - this was someplace she spent a lot of time. She was a cheerleader and she spent many Friday nights at the football field. The school hasn't done ANYTHING but offer grief counselors.

My high school used the football field for other things...band, etc.

I don't understand why they didn't let them use the field for a memorial? It's public property (unless it's a private school) funded my tax payer dollars.

They're meeting for fundraisers/memorials for Kim. I know they've done basketball games and things like that to commemorate past students who have died. But not allowing you to have security for a memorial service? Wow. Oh, and we don't really use our football field. Track practice (the track runs around it) and gym classes, but not for anything else that I know of.

Oh ic ic, maybe you should ask the principle if you can set up a memorial??

The school where I work and have sorta integrated into uses their football field for guys' soccer. The girls soccer plays on the soccer field though.
Marching band of course. And that's it.

My school's football fied is used for:
-Relay for Life.
-Marching Band.
-Graduation.
& a few other things.

Memorials are usually held in the auditorium.

No we dont...but our field is crap and you have to drive like a 3/4 mile to get there. But I do believe my school is going to crap
