Vent- florida traffic court

I dunno, I would be kind of embarrassed if my DH came in and fought my traffic ticket. I think your argument may have lost some steam because you were not the driver and not in the car.

FHP= Happy people need not apply!:scared1: :scared1:

We were stopped by one years ago on the Turnpike. We were returning home from a trip. Our infraction~ one of the headlights was out.:eek: The kids were sleeping, 2 in car seats and 1 seat-belted in. He flashed the flashlight on them to make sure they were wearing seatbelts. :thumbsup2 I remember him saying, "They have their seatbelts on, that's good." He almost sounded disappointed. :rolleyes1 We were glad to know about the headlamp being out, we knew we'd replace it the next day. So, we got a ticket for $8 and had a few days to take our vehicle in to our local police station to make certain that the light was replaced and the form had to be signed off by the examining police officer and mailed in.:rolleyes1

Due to the FHP's officer's diligence, the streets were safe once again. :snooty: :thumbsup2 :lmao:

OT, but I'd be ticked too if I had to go to traffic court in Florida all the way from Akron, OH.
(You might want to update your location.;) )

Actually, this is a new law that I think went into effect in January of this year. If you are given a ticket in FL and live out of state, you may be required to come back to go to court. :eek: :eek:

I'll have to look for a link.

From his post, he says that his wife got the ticket leaving the parking lot from her work.

That would be one heck of a commute from OH to FL every day. :lmao:

I read that. I'm just saying that there is a new law that if you get a ticket in FL and live out of state, you may be required to come back to appear in court.

I got a ticket last July for doing 44 in a 20 zone. I was on a slight decline, first ticket in over 20 years. Anyway, due to being more than 19 mph over the limit (and people were passing me!) the fine was for $275. I did go to traffic court with an attorney who is also my DH (he told everyone there that I was his worst client ever!). First the local PD had to agree to drop the ticket to 30 in a 20 zone. Then it was dismissed on a good driving record. His regular rate would have been less than the ticket. The ticket also would have been on my record and probably increased our insurance rates. Now I just have to be good for 3 years! Any infractions in the next 3 years will not be able to be dropped. My point - there are many reasons someone would bring an attorney with them to traffic court and according to my DH - being married to them is a possibility!

I went to court because I do volunteer consumer advocacy work and am quite familiar with court. Also, upon receiving the ticket I immediately drove to the scene and asked the cop multiple questions including how fast she was going. His response each time was that she was picked up speed. lol lol. Of course she was she was entering the road from a parking lot. The judge asked how he observed my wife and the cop stated it was his judgment that she was travelling at a high rate of speed so he turned on his radar gun. This cop was also about 70 years old no joke and I think retirement should be in order.
