vent about WDW bus passengers

When the PROPER response to that action, DisneyFed, is, "Thank you". So on behalf of anyone who responds otherwise for the rest of the week, "Thank you". For holding the door, for giving up a seat on the bus, for grabbing that fourth grocery bag as it's about to slip out of my hand... for ANY action that shows consideration and makes this a more pleasant world for someone, even for a moment.

amen!!

Well said.

I feel that what I said, may have come out wrong. I have NO problem with someone holding open the door for me or offering their seat. I just think that we need to teach our daughters to do these things, as well as our sons.

totally agree!

****NOT GETTING INTO THE ECV DEBATE, BUT GOING TO ADDRESS THE ORIGINAL TOPIC****

The DisDads have decided that:

Any able bodied man, unless otherwise impaired (i.e. disabled--visibly or obscured-- or holding a sleeping child), who remains seated while Elderly, Female, Young Children or Disabled Folks are having to stand; should be tied to the back of the bus and dragged behind it all the way back to the resort....we have also decided that their mothers should not only tie the rope, but give them a swift kick in the rear to boot...

This DOES NOT apply to handicapped persons or ECV's. Me? I'm personally glad I've been blessed (to this point) with good enough health not to use one. I don't begrudge anyone the use of a wheel chair or ECV---AND I don't mind standing in line a little longer, or standing on the bus while they are loaded/transported.

And my son WILL STAND (when he is able) when any of the aforementioned conditions are met--he's young and healthy, he can stand---he'll live....

**Ok, maybe I got into the debate a little, but I digress sometimes...LOL

:cheer2: Go DisDads :cheer2:

We, (DH, DD's, DS's and I) and including DM, DF, DMIL & DFIL, since they raised us, all agree with you.

We'll be standing along side of you, (including DS8, who I posted about earlier in this thread. He has health issues but they don't affect his ability to stand when he isn't sick or sleeping.)

Same applies for our family. Although offering the seat IS NOT MANDATORY, by not offering the seat to someone who clearly could use it more than their self is a sure way to be identified as a truly selfish, uncaring person. Sure... it's the person's right to stay seated... but it's also my right to label that person as RUDE. Just my opinion.

You know why we get defensive? It's because time and time again we are vilified for "ruining" someone's vacation. I can't win. Either I'm taking up someone's space or I'm making you wait for another bus or I've ran over your child or I motored on by you as you were running for TSMM and got a fastpass first and I've HAD IT. I'm lumped in with the people who do use it to cheat the system. I endure the dirty looks and nasty comments because it's the only way for me to enjoy MY VACATION! Do you know what it's like going through life with people thinking you are constantly trying to cheat the system because outwardly you don't look like you have a disability when you really do? Do you really understand how hurtful people like you are Auger? From now on every time I come back I'm going to start threads about those horrid "normal" people and all the ways they've ruined my vacation and see how y'all like it. It's hard enough to be as ill as I am without having to defend myself and my actions constantly. I don't need the extra stress and aggravation.

Once again Honugirl you are accusing me of clumping you in with the people that may be cheating the system. You all are the ones that keep acting like the scooter riders are the ones im attacking when Im not. Im very very simply saying dont let large families get on with that person. I just dont see why you all keep avoiding the point im trying to make with the large families bording too and keep acting like im attacking the user themselves. Saying so 20 times already seems like it sould be enough. :confused3

I will just add that the same holds true with my family as well. We are training our children to be polite, upstanding (no pun intended) citizens, helpful and mindful of others, not just their own interests. They open doors for people (not just women), and definitely offer up their seats without prompting.

Recently we spent 10 nights at WDW, and yes, I was appalled at many people's behaviors - but there were my sons offering to stand so that others could sit down. I only sat when the buses were less than half filled and it was apparent that there was a seat not going to be used, as I'd rather stand than see someone who needs a seat standing. That's how I was raised, and by golly, that's how we're raising our children too. My daughter has picked up on the act now, and likes to open doors for others as well. It is a shame that basic common courtesy and chivalry have nearly evaporated in this our very "me-centric" society.

I fear we've become a dying breed:sad2::sad2:
I will also hold doors open for women---you'd be surprised how many times I've heard "I can hold it myself, thanks." Oh well, I tried---

Dying maybe ,but dead certainly not:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
I think there is still enough good in this world that we can make a come back! Heck I am trying to do my part in raising my five kids to the good. I do believe any of them boys or girls would do good and help others.whether it be hold the door for someone, give up a seat,or just helping others in everyday life. We can make a difference in the world and not just in Disney.

There is no harm in offering if someone doesnt want the seat so be it but atleast you made the offer.

wow.

I do know though..even as a woman, it's just "the right thing to do", when someone is behind you, to hold the door for them. I do it quite often..even for a man:scared1:..and so many people never say so much as thank you or just look at you strange.

What the heck??? I think there are toxins in the environment that have killed the courtesy brain cells!

And that's been addressed REPEATEDLY.

Walt Disney World allows the wheelchair/ECV Guest and up to five members of their party to board a bus through the back door.

If you witness larger groups being allowed to do this, NOTIFY WALT DISNEY WORLD. Make a note of the location, time, bus number, driver name, number of people - and discuss with your resort's management.

Yet you keep ignoring this advice and, instead, complaining about large groups and attacking posters with whom you do not agree.

If you can go back to any post and show me the suggestion as far as letting Disney know a driver a large amount was let on the bus then I will apologize. But you say you keep saying things but this is the 1st time you have suggested that. It is a good idea. I had no idea that Disney had a limit on how many could board with a scooter. If thats their rule then thats the rule. But show me where you suggested the reporting an abuse of the number of family members allowed on with someone then I will apologize but I dont think you will. It makes total sense and is a good idea. I will be waiting ti see that suggestion.

She did suggest it..more than once in this thread. I saw it. I think it's when you were busy insulting people last night?:confused3

Sue's post was an understatement. I have seen many groups gather behind the ECV for the sole purpose of hoppping on the bus with the ecv. Even when the ecv rider has told the bus driver "they are not with me". The driver often just does not want to deal with it. I have heard drivers verbally harassed by "guests" just because they were told "no".

This is great to know also. While waiting in line i never really watched to see if the family was with the scooter. Pretty gutsy move for someone. Very nice to hear some of these things. If I had heard them sooner it may have stopped alot of my posts.

Auger, in your posts, you make it very much sound like you'd like to vilify the ECV user. You very rarely mention the large families. Everything seems like it is centered around the ECV user making your life tougher. If only they didn't get on before me, there should be buses strictly for them, etc. To me that sounds like you don't want ECV users to interfere with your vacation no matter what your intent actually is.

ECV use is routinely bashed throughout the boards both by "normal" able bodied travelers and by wheeled travelers (not all the time, but it does happen). It's exhausting to constantly be attacked. It more or less happens at least once a week around here. Granted, I know you're not attacking me alone, but you are attacking my fellow users. It's very much one of the last acceptable groups of people to attack. ECV users and fat people are the giant punching bags of the Dis boards and I'm tired of it. Heaven forbid someone is fat, an ECV user and can walk part time...

I'm not going to change your mind so I guess we should just agree do disagree on this. Thanks for your cooperation.

Just stop talking and show me the post. I think you are talking garbage but sould be easy to find for you if she said it many times. Stop whining and show me the post.

A DisDad doesn't do it for the recognition, he doesn't do it for the Thank You's, he does it because its right! And because Walt would have wanted it this way.

Why don't YOU stop YOUR whining..because you are the only person in this thread who is acting like a two year old and talking garbage.

I showed you the posts above that she posted..it was last night when you were completely belittling her calling her "dim" and an "idiot" another completely inappropriate things.

unBELIEVEable!

You say i do nothing but mention the scooters then one of the other 2 say i dont its all about the large family boarding. Then it goes the other way. Spin spin spin. You 3 are so full of it you have to be seeing brown. You 3 should get your stries straight and spin it one way. And im sure it will be you ways. Start calling you 3 the 3 stooges . :dance3:
