Vent about eBay customer...

Grrrr...there are times...
I pride myself on my positive feedback rating on eBay. I just had a customer post more positive feedback but under comments said I was 'slow to ship'. I am always quick with my shipping, even when I get personal checks. She had ordered a pattern book and shipping was $2.00, if you want priority mail it states in my auctions that you have to pay upcharges. If the postage I collect comes anywhere close to the priority fees I will go ahead and pay the extra myself and ship it that way, if not, I send it regular mail. Her book went out book rate and naturally took longer. (Plus she got a really good deal on the book too.) I live in a rural area but always make two trips to town any week I have eBay auctions ending. I know it's no big thing but still.
OK, I will quit whining now.

That's what worries me about selling things on Ebay. I think some people just see the feedback as a power thing. I didn't leave negative feedback when I got an item recently that was packaged in brown paper only. The package was ripped but the contents were fine and she gave me something for free too.

What bugs me is people who don't leave feedback - I am counting on building a reputation and I have at three that haven't bothered to leave feedback.

Whitegloves I totally know what you are talking about. I have to constantly remind people in the US that items are coming from CANADA and there is such a thing called CUSTOMS and THEREFORE packages take longer when coming from another COUNTRY.

Looks like your customer was just plain ignorant. You can always reply to the feedback saying that the customer paid for book rate (and not priority mail) which takes X amount of time.

Well, at least they gave you positive. I have one neutral feedback. It was someone saying my shipping was too high. They hadn't even received it yet. I charged $10 and it cost me $9.59. I always guesstimate my shipping and believe you me, I lose money plenty of times. I did add a comment about what it cost me, etc. and e-mailed her about it. Her response was that she didn't realize I took the feedback so seriously.

Sha, that's nothing... DW won an auction for 9 clifford mylar balloons for DD's birthday party. The auction said 'reduced shipping for multiple items'. After the auction closed, she offered to take $5 off the shipping for these flat, uninflated balloons. Our 'deal' was going to cost us $40 to ship.

The lady flat out told us in email that due to her low ebay bid winners, she has to charge full price shipping on each item in order to make her profits.

We eventually talked her down to a little more than $2 per item, and paid over $20 to ship something that cost her less than $5.

Ugh! We left neutral feedback saying that that shipping costs were inflated - she got all upset cause we said that - and then we pointed out that she told us herself and she shut up. grrrrr.

hmm..never had a problem with my customers. I wish more people would leave feedback, though. I always ship priority mail so my customers don't have to wait too long for their auction item. (I deal with import music CDs) and I always throw in free stuff before I ship.

I very rarely buy on Ebay, but when I do in the future, I'll make sure to give feedback everytime.

SORRY - DUPLICATE - WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DELETE - No one has posted to this thread in a while but I figured it was worth a shot. And since people who responded to the initial thread seem like ebay connoisseurs, I thought I could get some advice. My husband and I recently signed up for an ebay account and just placed an item up for bid, a somewhat expensive but very useful and well priced item. We indicate, very clearly, that we will only ship to the U.S. and only accept PayPal, cashiers check/money orders but we continue to receive somewhat generic e-mails from individuals who want us to charge us a credit card and ship to in most instances, Indonesia. Sometimes we have received e-mails from different email addresses with the same text. Has anyone had any problems like this?
Also, once a bid is accepted, do you wait to receive payment and then ship, take half before delivery and the other half after? We are very concerned and not certain how to proceed if we are finally able to sell our item. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. I have not bought anything from ebay but when I do, I will make sure to post my feedback and keep all the aforementioned things in mind:)

Wait to receive payment and then ship. If you accept personal checks, make sure they clear the bank before you ship.

I occasionally get people asking if I'll sell to a foreign country and I restate what is in my listing that I will not (in most cases). Recently, what I have begun doing is saying that those who want international shipping must request a quote on shipping prior to bidding. In most cases, they are not happy with the shipping quote.

I have only bought from a couple people on eBay. When they have sent my package out, they always Email me and let me know and then remind me to post feedback when the package arrives. It works for me. :)

I would post a response to the feedback that is left. You can do that. As an aside, I usually never check the positive or neutral comments. I only look at the negative comments.

That's what I did. =0)
I do enjoy eBay. You just can't please everybody. LOL!
Thanks everyone for 'listening'.
