Venice

Going to Italy for our hols at Spring Bank and intend to visit Venice for the day.

Any tips on what to see or where to eat?

Forgot to say we will have 2 teenagers with us so not too much culture!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't remember its name but we had one of the most amazing meals at a a restaurant converted from an old spice shop. It was absolutely beautiful. It had its own private mooring so that you could arrive by boat, and the gardens were truly the most beautiful I have ever seen. I will ask DH the name when he gets back in later, but it was in the San Marco district for sure. The food and service were both exceptional, but to be honest everywhere we ate in Venice had wonderful food and service.

I think it's difficult to take a trip to Venice and miss out on the culture! Obviously you can't miss the gondola serenade tours and some of the art galleries are amazing (especially Accademia), but we like art....so I guess we're biased! I don't know how impressive it is, but I remember seeing a technology museum next to one of the churches - it's supposed to be quite hi-tech and hands-on, it sounds ideal for teenagers.
