Quick question...

I notice Disney has added vendor meals to our bill which we assume are for our outside photography and videography guys. Is this customary to do... should we be asking them if they even want one?

I'd check with them. Our photographer stated in our contract if we don't provide a meal he just takes a 45 min break during the reception. Our planner asked if we wanted to add vendor meals during our PS and we said yes. No idea what they are though! :)

I think it is customary and respectful to have meals for your vendors. All it is is you paying for them to eat during your reception. They are at a much discounted rate...I think our BEO showed their dinners costing $25 a plate as opposed to $100 a plate. Its a nice gesture to make sure they are fed. Especially your photographer. Think of how long he/she will be with you throughout the day and you didn't feed him/her? I say definitely have meals for the vendors. It's a small amount compared to the big final budget.

Another question about vendor meals! I know they are billed at a much cheaper rate, but are they getting the same meal as everyone else? We are friendly with our photographer, and I want to ensure that she is getting the same meal that the rest of our guests are. Any input is much appreciated!

No, what the vendor gets is a deli plate that is apparently not very appetizing. If you can swing it, it's nice to pay to feed your vendors what the guests are having or even just to ask them what they'd like to eat and buy that meal. It almost certainly won't be as expensive as the wedding meal, and it will make them happy.

That's what I figured, I'm glad I asked! Thank you!

I was told by my planner that my vendor's would receive some of the same meal we are having. I am having a duet of short ribs and chicken and was told they would receive just the chicken and sides as opposed to both. I am not sure if you can request to give them something else but from my understanding at the planning session they were getting pretty much the same thing.

Hope this helps!

I'm with lurkyloo. Our vendor plate was a deli plate. I have heard from Misty that it is not great. I am sorry I did not pay for a regular meal for them (we had a brunch). Check with your vendor if they want one or not.

Yes, you absolutely should feed them. My vendors all had the same exact meal and I was charged the same price as the guest meals. It wasn't a concern for me because they were working hard, I wanted them to be well fed and happy.
