Vellum question

I wanted to do some journaling on vellum for my WL layout today using the computer & printer. I'm really cheap about using my supplies - I try to have as little waste as possible.

Anyway, my journaling is only going to take up a small portion of the 8.5x11 sheet. How can I use the rest? Have you had success with re-using a sheet in the printer? Or once you print & cut/tear out something, are you stuck with either writing on it or using it "blank" over photos etc on your pages?

You can use a temporary adhesive to attach your leftover vellum to a piece of plain copy paper and run it through your printer that way. When I do this, I always print a "rough draft" of my journaling on the plain paper first as a guide to where to temporarily position the vellum. Once you print your text on the plain paper, stick the vellum right over it and run it through the printer again, making sure you send it through the same way you did when you printed the rough draft. I always use my Hermafix Dotto dispenser with the temporary dots for this technique. After the printer ink dries on your vellum, you can rub the temporary glue dots right off the back and attach it permanently to your layout. HTH!

I try and do alot of journaling all at once...some times it's not hard to fill up a whole sheet of paper all at once....but anyway I usually use journaling boxes (text boxes) when I'm doing my journaling...that way I can cram as many journaling boxes as I can fit on one page...and theres no waste.

With the journaling boxes...you can make what ever size your needing... and just arrange them to fit as well as they can on the sheet.

One idea though...with text boxes...modify the lines (boarders of the box)...so you can't see them...if you don't care for the lines.

I have also used vellum scraps by printing what I want on regular paper -

I do this too, except I use repositionable xyron! I love printing on vellum!

Thanks everyone! As it turned out, I didn't do the journaling yesterday after all, though. I'll do it later this week hopefully.

DS was supposed to bring over DDIL's Sizzix & her tag die for me. He brought the rolling suitcase she uses to lug around her scrapping tools, telling me he hadn't looked, but that it was "so heavy he was sure the Sizzix must be in there." He was also carrying her nex Sizzlets font & I was soooo excited! I thought he'd only bring the machine & tags. I had 10 titles planned out in my mind by the time he walked up the sidewalk! I need a life.

Anyway, I had to laugh when he opened the suitcase & the machine wasn't there! He must have missed the conversation she & I had about how she'd hoped to be able to put it in the suitcase, but it didn't fit with her other stuff and made it too heavy to lift into & out of the car! She said the Sizzix is almost as heavy as the suitcase! (I didn't remember that. When I bought it I put it right in the cart & DH wrapped it a Christmas.)

So instead, I just used her CM cutting tools and personal trimmer & cropped a bunch more pix & cardstock. I really need to get myself some of those! Maybe for my birthday? (Is there a finger-crossing smilie? )
