Veliocoaster EP temporary while Hageids is down

I have been at the parks the last 2 days. When checking in at Pacific Royal they informed us right away that Hagrids was closed, but to make up for they were offering EP on Veliocoaster while it was down. I asked then does that mean that when it opens will no longer have EP? She said yes, that has been what we have been told.

I asked again today when boarding Veliocoaster through the EP line. They said the same thing, temporary until Hagrids opens back up.

So while there is even more demand for Velocicoaster due to the other super-headliner being down, they go to express, thereby exacerbating standby lines? But once Hagrid's opens again and thus demand for Velocicoaster falls, they will take express pass away again?

I do not doubt that is what you were told, but I am not buying it. It makes no logical sense at all.

Hmmmm I was wondering that. Kind of surprising though. Thanks for the update.

So because a NON EP ride is down, they are offering EP on a different ride? That doesn't make any sense.

Good luck to Universal walking this back...
Yea especially since it wasn't fully announced when they put it in that it was temporary. As others stated above it doesn't make sense. I could see if Hagrid's had EP they did it to "make up" for it being down, but increased flow and EP it will just make that line worse. This will make the experience weaker for non-EP rides. And then if they take it away it will then upset the EP riders that missed out on it. Doesn't seem a good move

Yeah really does not make sense - other than many folks will come to the parks expecting to ride Hagrids and have no clue it will be closed - most people dont keep up on this stuff even if they are travelling to the parks. On top that Studios is a sea of construction walls. In the end this may reduce the frustration of folks at the premier hotels slightly.

It may also just be a test to see how it affects the ride and if they should make it permanent

I would still consider it a trial. If waiting times aren't affected much then it may be introduced fully once Hagrid's opens again.

Also, even if they know it will be down there might not be anything they can do about it. Many people plan trips to parks like this a long time out and can't easily change their plans due to when they can get time off and might cost a bit to change flights and such. This closure was just announced recently so many people affected by it already had their trips set.

This should be made permaneNT. V queue is brutal all day long and at any time.

I can confirm that there was an EP line open for Velocicoaster last night. (We actually rode standby near closing time, and the posted wait was 45 minutes. The actual wait was maybe a little bit shorter.)

It's a shame I only missed Hagrid's re-opening by a couple of days, but I got to do Velocicoaster three times, and it was awesome!!
