OT but wonder if anyone has had laser treatment (EVLT) for varicose veins in the leg and can give feedback cheers

OMG, I have so many of those little spider veins in my thighs. I noticed them after each pregnancy (two wonderful children!).

I wish there was something I could do for them, but insurance does not cover anything cosmetic of course. Then again, it's something I notice but other people most likely do not and most of them are covered most of the time anyway. It would be interesting though to hear other people's experiences.

Hi Ladies:

Didn't do the laser, but did the treatment where they shoot the saline
solution into the veins. I think it was cheaper than the laser treatment and it worked pretty well. You go in for a main treatment and then back a couple times for touch ups. The first time is kind of a pain in the but because you get a ton of little shots and then they tape cotton onto your skin and you have to wear support hose for about 2 weeks (the first 3 days are 24 hours a day and then just during the day for the rest of the 2 weeks). It hurt a little bit the first day, not too bad, mostly from ripping the tape off my legs. The follow up visits were no big deal at all, no pain, no wearing of the support hose, pretty easy and I am pretty happy with the results.

A fitness site I frequent promotes supplements and skin brushing to get rid of them. Alot of people have had great results using their method. I've tried it, but have not been consistent enough to get noticable results. If you want to check it out click here http://ttapp.com/store/ and scroll down to the CRT Skin Tightening system options. You can search the forums and find information and testimonials on it too if you like.

I did the laser treatment a few years ago and am so glad I did! If your veins cause pain or other problems check the insurance as it may be covered.

Subbing to this thread...

My mom has AWFUL vericose veins in her legs. She's had several of them stripped (which was a long, drawn out recovery...ick) and needs MORE done. Poor thing. I got "lucky" at the ripe ol' age of 18 when I noticed a vein popping out in my calf. Blah. My MIL started me on some natural supplements but they didn't seem to do any good, nor did my compression stockings. The veins didn't get worse when I was pregnant the first time, but they did this last time!

I had a consultation for sclerotherapy and/or laser treatment last summer with my mom. I just can't afford that right now... :( Plus, from the way she talked, it wouldn't matter which one I chose, but I'd have a recovery period where I couldn't lift over 10 lbs for 2 weeks? See, I'd rather wait until I'm done having babies for that, because that's nearly impossible around here. Plus, my insurance sounds like they'll find any way they can to get around paying for it, even if I AM in pain.

did you have the laser for proper varicose veins rather than spider if so how did you find the procedure/ was it nhs or private and how have they lokked and felt since also how sqyeamish was it if u know what i mean?
sorry edit to say if u are usa i guess it was definitely private!!

I had it for the varicose viens. It was pretty painless and they still look fine a few years later. The only annoying this was you had to wear some special stockings for a few weeks so I would recommend doing this in the winter and not when its hot.

On that same note, the lady who did my consultation said that for this type of treatment, you almost ALWAYS want to schedule at least 6 months in advance if you want it done in the colder months, because EVERYONE else does too. LOL

Mine are bad on the front of my shins :( They seem to get worse the older I get....and the more I walk/run. Oh well, I'll grow old gracefully I suppose LOL Shame though....when I was younger I actually liked the way my legs looked....growing old isn't fun :( If I ever got money for cosmetic surgery it would definitely be a tummy tuck or tacking my huge ears back LOL so I could wear a pony tail.
