Vegetarian procedure changed?

mmmmmmmmmmmm - I LOVE the PBJ at Panera, on pumpkin bread. Now I'll have to try a warm one at Earl of Sandwich!!!!

PB&J on pumpkin bread? I think you lost me on that one, but I'm not feeling 100% today so maybe it would sound good if I felt better. I bet my DH would like it, though.

My favorite vegetarian meals at WDW:

MK: veggie sandwich at Main Street Bakery (counter service)

AK: veggie burger at Rainforest Cafe (table service). Truly outstanding!

Epcot: Vegetarian platter at San Angel Inn (table service)

Macaroni and cheese at Chefs de France (table service)

Vegetarian chili at Electric Umbrella (counter service) (not wonderful, but I'm so happy they have something other than a Boca Burger!)

Cuban sandwich at The Land (also not wonderful, but see above)

MGM: haven't found anything I like there yet. Avoid (like the plague) the tabouli wrap at the ABC Commisary!

Unfortunately, I do think most of the children's meals are mac-and-cheese, peanut-butter-and-jelly and of course the ubiquitous (non-vegetarian) chicken nuggets.

:confused3 I thought the tabouli wrap was really good!! I even 'recreated' it at home.
As for MGM:

At the sci fi restaurant they have a good grilled veggie meal with really good potatos on the bottom. I enjoyed that meal very much.

at 50s prime time they have a stuffed pepper that is good, but unfortunately not as good as it used to be. Still a vegetarian option though.

tricia.

I was nauseated all day long after my tabouli wrap (besides thinking it tasted awful). :earsgirl:

Hope that you feel better soon!

I'll admit that I was sceptical on this one but learned to love it.... :)

My cousin has been vegan for years and even owns her own bakery. You can request anything you want at the restaurants and the chefs are more than willing to prepare something to cater to your needs. She probably had more food than anyone. They like trying out their new receipes or making up new ones. Her favorite resort to eat at was Coronado Springs. Could eat almost everything there.

Remember if you don't ask you will never get or will never know.

and all we do is tell the server and they usually have wonderful options for us...on and off the menu.

We're going to cheat on Thanksgiving, however, and have some turkey. Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone.

I think it's awesome that you are so supportive of your son. WHat a great kid he is to stand up for something that he believes in!!! What a leader!! I am a vegetarian too, and am not "making" my DS3 NOT eat meat, but am trying to give him a taste for vegetarian foods. The problem is that he is soooo picky, that he lives off of chicken nuggets and PB&J (the PB makes me VERY happy..lol). I would LOVE to find a vegetarian substitute for the chicken nuggets that he wouldn't notice (he examines his food very closely).

ANYWAYS.....Great topic, great thread, thank you for pointing this out.....

...but if you look in the area with the other fake meats, I know that there are fake chicken nuggets available, and I bet he wouldn't be able to tell...the same brand (sorry it's slipping my mind) makes fake bacon, and my cat begs for it like it were the real thing (looks and smells so real that I won't touch it!)

Morningstar Farms is a brand that makes fake chicken nuggets. They even make buffalo wings. They are awesome!!

Great!! Thank you for the recs!! I steer clear of fake meat, it's kinda scarey to me (maybe someday, I'll try it)..I'll have to try the chicken nuggets for my son!! Sorry for hijacking the thread...Hopefully it will just keep bumping it up though....

THANK YOU!!!

I have to second morningstar farms faux chicken nuggets and patties. They are so good. I love them!

I also like the fake chicking stuff even though I usually don't like fake meat.

As a 23 year old vegetarian who has been such since age 9/10, I can certainly attest to what it's like trying to find vegetarian food. I have a book called "Vegetarian Walt Disney World and Greater Orlando" which tells if vegetarian dishes are served at restaurants, how accomodating they are, and even dishes to watch out for (i.e. uses meat stock). It's a great resource. If the link below doesn't work, you can look it up on Amazon.com.

I picked up the vegetarian WDW book as well. Even if some of it is out of date, it gave me lots of ideas and inspired me to look in places I might not have looked. It also gave me some confidence that my son won't have to starve for 10 days :) .

The Liberty Tree Tavern has a WONDERFUl vegetarian dish called Amber Waves of Grain. It's made with grain (can't remember the exact kind) and roasted veggies. YUM!!!!!! :goodvibes

I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth re: vegetarian children---DD became vegetarian @age 10 and is now almost 18 and has eaten no meat, poultry or fish in all that time. She is not vegan, though, so her options when eating out are easier. We have been very happy to see the changes @WDW in the past few years and have found that most any table service rest. have more than one vegetable available. She also likes the "veggie" burgers and grilled portobello mushroom sandwiches we found on last trip. I think vegetarians would be able to find plenty to eat, but vegans would have to do more planning ahead and research the menus.
